Describe both the 3rd generation ELISA test and the 4th generation DUO test for you. The ELISA test looks for antibodies in your blood that your body develops in response to an HIV infection. The window period is the point from first infection until the test can reliably detect antibodies in the blood. Don't worry. That is conclusive. Take care.

4th generation duo test will pick up 95% infections after 28 days of exposuer. A confirmatory test 3 month after exposure is always recommended this is because 5% of cases take this long to show a positive result.

Hello and welcome to Lybrate. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. If your hiv duo combo test in 4 month is negative, then you don't have to worry about hiv for the time being.
I suggest telephonic counseling and online psychotherapy for you.
You can contact me for further advice and treatment options. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.

With antibody-only tests (3rd generation) only 0.3% of tests (3 tests in every 1000) will be a false negative after 3 months. With 4th generation tests this is even lower. In practice, a negative result after six weeks means you do not have hiv. You do not need to test again unless you have new risks in the future.
