Just 2 weeks ago I was treated for chlamydia. Before my partner and I was having unprotected sex as I was trying to get pregnant however after a couple of months of trying we failed and that was a concern. However I developed symptoms of itching, irritation and redness, discharge and odour I thought it was just a yeast infection and treated it with monistat 3 but even after I still had an odour. After going to the doctor she prescribed fluconazole which I took and I also got tested for HIV/aids, syphilis, gonorrhoea, trich and chlamydia in which I tested positive for chlamydia and was given azithromycin. My partner and I had sexual intercourse about a week after using a condom and it broke without us knowing and he ejaculated and it was discovered he never was treated yet so I am concerned that I may be reinfected. I want to know if I should go ahead and get another treatment right away or do I wait? Please suggest to me.

Hello.
Chances of reinfection with Chlamydia are high if once infected and also if partner is not treated along at the same time with patient ie here its you.. so pl get him treated too..theres no documented drug resistance for Chlamydia, unlike for gonorrhoea, so the drug Azithromycin is very effective in cure...
as for retreatment, first get your partner checked and treated...a novel approach is partner- delivered therapy in which pt receives trt and also provides single dose Azithro...more

The condition most often occurs when people wear tight-fitting clothing that traps in moisture.
Wash the affected skin two to three times a day.
Keep the affected area dry.
Avoid excess affected skin irritation by wearing 100% cotton underwear.
Avoid fabric softeners, bleaches, or harsh laundry detergents.
Wash your workout clothes, underwear, socks, and towels after each use.
Keep your affected area, inner thighs, and buttocks clean and dry, especially after you exercise...more

Hi,
firstly if you are self-medicating, you shouldn't. You need to see a doctor for a severe cough.
Secondly, to answer your question. Both are antibiotics and their use depends on physicians choice for the particular condition the patient is suffering from.
