If the insulin has been started because of the failure of oral medicines then generally one has to take insulin life long. At times insulin is given prior to some surgery or a person is shifted to insulin because of some complication, then the patient can be shifted back to oral drugs.

It's very essential to have a blood sugar level that can be controlled by oral medicines. If you're taking insulin it means your sugar is not under control. Get hba1c levels checked and also fasting and post prandial blood sugars at regular intervals. If the range is coming at an acceptable level you can be put on oral medicines.

Use a 100U/ml syringe (orange cap) for the 100u/ml vial or use a 40U/ml syringe (red cap) for 40u/ml vial. As long as u dont mix them up, you will do just fine. All pen cartridges come as 100u/ml concentration only. Never mix up the syringes or pen cartridges

Hi, in t1 diabetes, unless blood sugar is properly monitored and insulin dosage is correctly adjusted, hypoglycemic episodes can occur. You may talk to your physician and see how effectively sugar levels are maintained. This is not a situation which can be addressed by online consultation. It needs a close monitoring between you and your physician. Also you may think of using insulins like glargine or degludec which are peakless.

Mr Amit, Thanks for the query.
When blood glucose is not well controlled, (> 180 mg/100 ml), some amount of glucose is lost in the urine. If patient has very high glucose level then more of it is lost, leading to weakness and lethargy, tiredness etc. It is important to achieve a good glucose control with fasting glucose closer to 100 mg, PP 170 to 180 mg & HbA1c% < 7. If these parameters are achieved, invariably there will be hardly any weakness. I am sure she must be already on some vitamin...more

Hello, thanks for the query.
I have seen the details mentioned. The post lunch glucose is high. This can be controlled by 1) reducing the food intake (reduce the carb content). 2) increase the insulin dosage by 2 units or take a prandial dosage rapid acting insulin.
Another aspect is that looking at ypur weight & height with a bmi of 27.51 kg/sq meter you are over weigt and very close to become a grade 1 obesity person. Your ideal body weight should be 69 kg, which means there is an exce...more
