Sir, my brother is on medicines. Medicines are risperdal ,paradise and bexol. These medicines controlled his aggression(anger) but he lacks confidence and maturity. He is 22 years old but does not have any sense of maturity and gets attached to things ,gets very much attached to one thing only and he never feels satisfied. Should we do any MRI brain or take him to a neurologist? We have already taken him to a psychiatrist but we want counselings sessions for him.

Neurologist is not at all related to your brother's condition. Taking MRI brain once is not wrong, though it rarely shows some findings. You can consult your psychiatrist and ask for counselling from a clinical psychologist. All the best.

I have addiction to coffee and nescafé without a limit sometimes 17 cups and in case of lack of nutrition and pressure or stress or psychological shock I have ocr and depression and loss of concentration. Recently I use lotion carbonate 600 mg a day and injection risperdal 37 mg every 15 days is there a substitution for medicine like fluanxol depot which I used before or to give it up like electric settings and in case of pregnancy what is the safe substitute for medicine like lamictal?

My son went to uk for M.Sc. Engg. In july, 2007, he did not complete study but did job in petrolpump, bunk up to end of 2011. First psychologist diagnosed as paranoid psycho sis, for one year he did saap, testing tools and some courses but not appeared exams for 2 years taken resperidol consta along with some medicines. He still in withdrawal condition we approached another psychiatrist who is giving treatment to some extent it is improved but not doing any thing simply sees tv serials, cinemas, but not thinking about his future. He is under medicare from 2012 to till date. I am afraid of my sons fate. Alternate day he takes bath.

Recently I got married and diagnosed with erectile dysfunction and loss of testosterone. And high prolactin may be due to risperidone 35 ng .I totally lost sexual desire. Is it due to side effects of above medication. Pls give opinion.

It may be due to effect of the medicines, your prolactin is high so get treatment for it also you can change antidepressant in consultation with the doctor.

Clozapine is not available as 6.5 mgs, close 0.5 mgs acta as a hypnotic and gives you sleep, if vyour problem is schizophrenia that may not help. Please discuss with a Psychiatrist or take a second opinion.

Madam since you have hypothyroidism and on levothyroxine for controlling it, it is most important to take that medication regularly in correct dosage and maintain tsh around 3 to 4 mu/l. At that level all the symptoms of hypothyroidism are well in check. As regards high bp with treatment it should be maintained around 120 to 130 / 70 to 80 mm hg.
