Sir this is with reference to earlier asked question of krantidevi v gupta for tb treatment since 7 months her lft reports of 7th aug are in normal range and inh 300 is started on 21 st aug can I now stop ethide 250 and roxid 150 and weight is also maintained same she is having lot of itching and confusion and some memory problems.

Tb treatment is for 6 months in most cases. Can assess with xray chest, haemogram, sputum afb and past treatment history whether to continue medicine or not. Need rifampicin, ethambutol and isoniazid combination as maintenance therapy.

Forecox Tablet is used in spinal B successfully if you take the full course of 9 months (or more if needed) and it is a combination of four medicines: Isoniazid, rifampicin, ethambutol and pyrazinamide which treat tuberculosis. My mother 80 years old is on tb treatment since 8 months for 1st three months she was given rifampicin 300 inh 300 pyzina 750 combutol800 then in 4th month pyzina was stopped and rifampicin 450 along with inh 300 and combutol800 was continued after 20 days due to jaundice all medicines were discontinued n ethide 250 roxid 150 levoflox 750 was started n comb 800 was added after 15 days after 1 month pyzina750 also added know in 8th month inh 300 also added so which earlier medicines should be stopped her wt is 47 kg know losing 1 kg per month after jaundice.

Post hepatitis the treating doctor is the best judge particularly for 80 year old citizen
ethambutol and levofloxacin or moxifloxacin stretomycin safe for liver
but other side effects to be watched while giving a regimen.

My father aged 68, some 8 months back was diagnosed for Spine TB and he started on AKT4 for 2 months, AKT3 for the next month but had to stop due to vision loss and following 5 months was taking Rifampicin and Isoniazid. His vision is almost back with some eye power complaint but he is complaining about arm pain midway from shoulder joint and elbow. I read that Isoniazid can cause these side effects. Also recent blood report shows hemoglobin at 10.9. I read this could be due to Rifampicin. What could be the reason and if it needs any urgent attention to treatment? FYI. He is taking 40 mg of pyridoxine, his blood work shows platelet count=130, ESR 94, CRP has come down from 67 to 8.4, LFT results are normal, His back pain is almost gone. Other symptoms at this moment are slight numbness around feet, constipation and dizziness upon movement. Remarks of Hemogram: RBCs: Mild anisopoikilocytosis. Predominantly macrocytic normochromic with macroovalocytes. WBCs: Mild Leukopenia is present. Platelets: Appear mildly reduced in smear. Macroplatelets are seen. Sugar levels are normal 93/142 Blood pressure is bit low 75/115.

Arm pain is nothing to do with TB drugs. Haematological abnormality can be due to rifampicin, but not alrming to stop drug rifampicin.

His vision is almost back with some eye power complaint but since last month he is complaining about arm pain near the shoulder joint. There is a slight muscular swelling possibly which we feel there. I read that Isoniazid can cause these side effects. What could be the reason and if it needs any urgent attention to treatment? FYI. He is taking 40 mg of pyridoxine, his blood work shows mild thrombocytopenia, haemoglobin = 11.4, platelet count=106, ESR has come down to 60, CRP has come down from 67 to 8.4. His back is almost gone.

I am going through the Potts spine treatment. The doctor prescribed level one medicines for the treatment. However after a month and complete blood tests the liver test showed high SGOT AND SGPT. So the doctors have stopped Rifampicin. Pyrazinamide. Both of these medicines and says will resume it once the liver levels get normal! I am worried as I am bed ridden for almost a month now.

Hey I've been taking the following medicines for 4 months and still counting. 1) Isoniazid 2) pyrazinamide 3) moxifloxacin 4) Ethambutol 5) 60 streptomycin injections (10 pending) and lastly I wanna tell I also took omnacortil steroid 10 mg for 3 months along with these medicines and it's over now. I have swelling on my body because of it. I just wanted to know how long will it take to go away. can I gain weight at this point when I have swelling. If this swelling goes away I'd be thin as I was. I want to gain some weight before the swelling goes away totally. It's been 15 days I stopped taking omnacortil. please suggest me some ways to gain weight with this condition. I have to take akt for more 5 months.

21 years old female of weight 70 kg with cervical lymph adenopathy diagnosed with chronic granulomatous lymphadenitis. She was on att prescribed by doc .on 10 days of usage she developed severe rash on whole body with fever .on stoppage they subsided doc has reduced the dose even then developed rash and fever .and next time on every usage she developed severe rash and fever even when individual tablets (single dose) are given for all h, r,z, e at present she stopped medication ethambutol 1800 mg pyrazinamide single tablet ke vachindulhi actual ga 3 tablets 750 mg isoniazid 300 mg rifampin 600 mg. What is the solution for this doc !pls reply.

it's a very common problem. my brother had same problem 5-6 yrs back. they do titration dose slowly slowly start with 25 mg n gradually increase, add inj streptomycine for two months.
treating doctor will find out alternate therapy.

He has recently started to complaint about burning sensation while peeing and frequent urination. His Blood urea, BUN is high and so is creatinine = 1.77. I read that Rifampicin could induce such problems. I consulted general medicine doctor and he was concerned and asked to remove azulix (sugar medicine) and include nefrolex for 5 days and then redo the KFT. however he thing rifampicin could rarely cause this kind of toxicity. FYI. He is taking 40 mg of pyridoxine, his blood work shows platelet count=130, ESR 70, CRP has come down from 67 to 8.4, LFT results are normal, His back pain is almost gone. Remarks of Hemogram: RBCs: Mild anisopoikilocytosis. Predominantly macrocytic normochromic with macroovalocytes. WBCs: Mild Leukopenia is present. Platelets: Appear mildly reduced in smear. Macroplatelets are seen. Urine has pus cells loaded.
