Dear lybrate-user,
some medications in neuropsychiatry are similar to those in other medical conditions like diabetes, high bp, etc, and may need to be taken as instructed by your psychiatrist. They actually help you rather than harm you in any way. I would recommend that you consult your psychiatrist for suggestions regarding the medications and have your concerns addressed by him. Alternatively, you can get a second opinion here consult me.

First off, psychiatrists who are basically medical doctors prescribe medications and not psychologists. You need to go off of certain medications under the supervision of a psychiatrist just as you go on them since they are tapered up for optimization. It is the case with all medications, not just psychiatric medications and therefore you should have your friend consult a previous psychiatrist or another one online on this forum to help with those feelings.
Look forward to hearing from you....more

Hello, thanks for the query. If taken under proper medical supervision & for proper indication, escitalopram is a very good medication to relive depression & various anxiety disorders. May I know who prescribed you escitalopram & in what dose? what were your problems for which you were advised to take tablet escitalopram; so that I can help you better. Good luck.
