Dear Lybrate-User,
please consult the psychiatrist who prescribed it to her. If it is with suicidal intent, the psychiatrist may add another drug/ect/therapy/admission to hospital. If it is impulsive, she/he may discuss this issue in therapy. Observe her, if any symptoms come up, take her to hospital for symptomatic treatment.

Hi, yes, you can continue to take it. Studies have shown that it is safe to take in pregnancy. If you continue to take in the last few week of pregnancy then the baby should be observed for symptoms like irritability, increased muscle tone and increased crying after birth.

The minimum duration of treatment for depression is 9 months. You should continue medication for 4 more months, then ask your doctor for tapering. Your medication will be tapered only if your symptoms are improved. No patient should taper the dose without the advise of the doctor.

Please continue medication, along with cognitive behavioral therapy to prevent recurrence of depression.

Irregular medication and under dose may leads to recurrence of symptoms so be cautious

The dose needs to be tapered and changed. There are effective alternatives to escitalopram. Consult any psychiatrist in person or online and based on the evaluation, alternates can be suggested. Good luck.
