The medications are fine, but your hallucinations are not controlled. So you need a revision of prescription, consult your psychiatrist. He will be able to help u. If all 4 years the symptoms have not remitted, with adequate dosage, there are medications for resistant hallucinations. All the best.

Dear Sir Thank you for your query.
A lot of people with schizophrenia have to take more than one medicine at a time. The treatment prescribed to a person depends on a lot of factors like the severity of illness and response to medications. More than one medicine can be taken at a time for schizophrenia. All anti-psychotic medications can potentially cause some memory problems or cognitive decline in long term. But the effects of sizodon (risperidone) for your condition far outweigh the side-effect profile in most cases, and thus it is best to continue with the medication as per your psychiatrist's advice. You can always discuss any concerns or possible adverse effects with your prescribing doctor and he/she will guide you best. Hope this helps!

Dear Pramod,
Please continue with the same tablets and consult your doctor again to add therapy (to question and challenge the negative automatic thoughts) or to change the dose of drugs.

Dear Shadab,
Nice to know that you are concerned about your father. High cholesterol levels cause ischemia that can cause slowness.
Another possibility is there, please check on it. Is he taking Risdone plus (containing both Risperidone and THP) or Risdone (only risperidone). If he took risdone without THP, he might have got little risperidone induced parkinson. It might have slowed him down. Probably in the native place, risdone plus was not available.

Dear lybrate user,
There is no difference in their mechanism of action. Sizodon is absorbed in the stomach and intestines before getting into blood stream whereas sizodon MD dissolves in the mouth itself and works the same way as sizodon does, if it is put in the mouth. Nothing to worry. Both are same.
