Friend & Health - Can Former Help Latter?

Friend & Health - Can Former Help Latter?

Tired of slogging alone in the gym? Well, it has been seen that people with fewer friends or a gym buddy tend to skip their sessions more often. Reasons like "too tired, too much rain, too much sun," so on and so forth, tend to crop up. But, if you have a health buddy, things become much more bearable and you actually look forward to that time of the day instead of avoiding it.

This is true for diet control, exercising and a host of other health-related activities as well. So, come and figure out how to find a health buddy and how having a friend can motivate you to stay healthy!

  • Finding a health buddy: Look closely in your circle of friends, or even at your acquaintances who live nearby or in the same locality or building as yours. Do you see anyone who is motivated when it comes to healthcare and fitness? This friend may be the one who will become the perfect health buddy. Also, if you find someone who is in the same boat as you, but aware of the issues, you can suggest becoming a health buddy because you both can motivate each other.
  • Routine: Make a routine with your new health buddy and start meeting each other at regular timings and for a good amount of time. Seek each other out at parties and stay with each other to help avoid eating what you are not supposed to. Message each other your progress every day and report what you eat when you go out without this buddy.
  • Avoiding and dismissing: When someone is knocking at your door at five in the morning, it is usually difficult to avoid or dismiss the impending action due to social and emotional reasons. So, when your gym buddy arrives to pick you up, or when you know you have to meet this person at a certain time, you would not want to keep this friend waiting or dismiss the thought of going to the gym.
  • Distractions: Your health buddy will give you positive distractions by way of conversations and other such things so that you do not realise how quickly the gym session or walking time has passed by. Also, with the help of this person, you will probably not get bored which tends to make us eat junk.

So get yourself a healthy buddy and make a commitment towards health and fitness!

Cell Phone Radiation - How To Protect Our Children From It?

Cell Phone Radiation - How To Protect Our Children From It?

Cell phones bring us close to people but can also have a harmful effect on our health. Studies show that cell phone radiation could be one of the causes of brain cancer. However, this does not stop us from using a cell phone. Unfortunately, some people also allow their children to use cell phones, thus, putting them at risk also.

Here are a few tips to reduce your child's exposure to cell phone radiation:

Limit the use of cell phones
Adding an old school landline to your home can be used not only as a decor element but functionally as well. When at home, route all calls to your cell phone to the landline. In addition, do not allow your children to use the cell phone as a toy to play games on. If you absolutely must give them the phone to play a game on, first put it into flight mode.

Maintain distance
Start using a headset while answering calls on your cell phone. This allows you to keep a distance between the phone and your body. If children use your phone to answer calls, encourage them to do the same as well. As far as possible do not keep your phone in your pocket for long durations. If the cell phone is used as a morning alarm, ensure that it is not kept under the pillow but on the bedside table.

Studies show that texting emits less radiation than voice calls. Make use of group messaging facilities to further reduce the number of messages you need to send out and in turn, the radiation emitted.

Choose a good case
Some phone cases are built with materials that limit the radiation emitted by the phone. These cases allow the phone to receive the signal but restrict the outgoing radiations thus protecting the person using the phone.

Find good signal
Using your phone in an area with good reception will not only let you enjoy an uninterrupted call but can also protect you against cell phone radiation. This is because radiation and signal strength have an inversely proportional relationship; the lower the signal, the higher the amount of radiation emitted.

Ethernet cords
Today, an internet connection is a must-have in every house. Along with cell phones, laptops and tablets emit radiation as well. To protect your family from this radiation use an Ethernet cord to connect to the internet instead of a wireless router.

Hearing - 5 Tips To Safeguard It!

Hearing - 5 Tips To Safeguard It!

Your hearing is one of the most important functions your body carries out and sometimes you realize that you are losing your sense of hearing when it is too late to get it back. There are two main reasons for this. One of the reasons is age, as the inner ear's hair cells break down and do not pick up sound well. Here are 5 ways to safeguard your hearing.

1. Try to avoid loud places
It is not advisable to go to places where you have to shout to be heard such as in a street, a concert or a construction site.

2. Buy low noise rating equipment
The equipments in your house will make sounds that you hear the most. Try to avoid these equipments by buying appliances with a low noise rating.

3. Remove earwax properly
Earwax cannot be removed properly using a cotton swab. Instead, you should use an irrigation kit. Remember this as otherwise; the earwax could muffle your hearing.

4. Avoid medications which reduce hearing
Certain medications increase hearing loss. Therefore, double check with your doctor to make sure your medicines will not make you lose your hearing.

5. Get your hearing tested
Finally, get your hearing tested as identifying the problem early on can help stop worsen the situation.

So it seems like panic attacks with depression. Do you know if any event stimulated this reaction last year? If you have no specific cause, where you weakened by stress etc. Fear will tend to find a form and so it is not surprising that if you have not dealt with the original fear, there could be other reasons you will create to be frightful: the flying or death, for example. You are having panic attacks and need to meet with a counselor immediately. On that person’s advice you may have to meet with a doctor and get on medication if so advised. Even so you must continue with the counseling to develop coping mechanisms to face the daily challenges of life. Because you are not handling fear well, you tend to over-react to normal fear with abnormal panic attacks. Then your panic reaction, which is fear based, irritates you easily and gets you angry. In other words the anger/irritation is an escalation over the fear. This is not advisable and it is happening because you are not dealing well with the panic. Anger is a cover-up feeling for the fear, and people may mistakenly respond to the anger whilst the scare remains unresolved and it may also increase because of the discomfort you have caused to others with the anger! if this anger is not expressed then it can turn inwards and cause an anger-related depression. About the issue itself: do you know if this is a family trait, or is the family by anyways less to socialize, or have you had any problem with fear because of some family or childhood experience? Have you ever been embarrassed in public by someone that it has left an indelible mark in your personality? You can take the answers to these questions to a counselor and resolve the same. Any way you must deal with your fear of people and it will be the best solution to your problem. You need to change your perception of the fearful stimulus then you can change your response to the fear. The first one is the best and will preempt the need for the second. If you are already far gone into the reaction mode, then you need both responses to counter the attack. The way we see things in life (like half empty or half full glass) is very dependent on our attitude. Attitude may have developed over many years but fortunately can change in a matter of sustained choices made and acted up on now. Accordingly you choose to see things as either threatening or as an opportunity. The opportunist will be positive and work with the situation to make good out of it. The individual who sees it as threatening, will, out of fear, try to avoid/run away from the situation or react with anxiety. Yes, self-belief does impact it too, but you can see that prior to that, perception will tarnish the belief system too. Here, you can see that all the resolution lies in just changing your perception/attitude, even if it is against odds. Changing your response, despite the perception, is building up of your reserves and resources to handle any contingency that life throws up at you. And life throws up situations quite regularly and heavily. In the meantime do some confidence building exercises by attending a personality development course, public speaking skills course (i suggest you join the toastmasters club), work out at a gym to build good self-image, and join social events to practice your skills. Surprisingly many people are often in the same boat as you, and so you are not alone. The very people you are intimidated by may be afraid of you too, though not to this extent! there are three important developments to have to make an autonomous personality: awareness, intimacy and spontaneity. If you are super aware or too conscious of yourself, it will affect the intimacy and spontaneity. Although your problem is now directly to do with intimacy, you can see that they are all connected. Go and work on these matters with a counselor for this level of panic reaction to disappear from your life for good.

Dark Circles - Know Role Of PRP!

Dark Circles - Know Role Of PRP!

Dark circles are a pesky reality for a large section of the population today. The main culprits are sleep deprivation, which stems from stress- a menace that we all have to live with. But you can easily eliminate this problem with Platelet Rich Plasma treatment.

What causes dark circles?

When you don’t get enough sleep, your blood flow is interrupted. It makes the skin underneath your eyes pallid and the blood vessels and the darker tissues under the skin become visible through the translucent skin. Fluids build up and make the darkness underneath more prominent.

What is PRP and how does it help?

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) treatment is an alternative to other more harmful procedures like dermal fillers, laser resurfacing or topical creams for tightening and removing the pigmentation under the eye. PRP is a regenerative procedure. The procedure is fast and simple. The doctor draws a sample of the patient's blood. The blood is then processed. The plasma, rich in platelets, is isolated and then re-injected into the orbital region of the eye. Dark circles can be the result of unhealthy skin. PRP promotes the growth and development of collagen, new cells and elastin. This leads to the formation of new and healthy skin and tissues. The whole procedure takes around two hours. And you do not need to be hospitalized for it. You can go back home as soon as the procedure is completed.

You will not see the effect of the PRP treatment as quickly as other procedures like dermal fillers as the body takes a few days to absorb the new material. You can see results only after at least three sessions spaced out by two to three months.

In most people, this procedure is an absolute success because it completely eliminates dark circles. But the extent of the success depends on how well your body reacts to the therapy. It's not just dark circles that PRP cures, it also takes care of other signs of ageing like fine lines or wrinkles. So, with one procedure provides treatment for multiple problems.

Dark circles need not be a constant source of annoyance to you if you opt for PRP therapy. It is a non-invasive procedure that has no side effects and if you are patient, you will emerge from this treatment with pristine new skin and tissues that banish dark circles forever.

I am 30 years old, having blackheads and few hairs on nose. I used nose strips two times, even after few days, again these blackheads started. How to remove this blackheads and hair permanently?

I am 30 years old, having blackheads and few hairs on nose. I used nose strips two times, even after few days, again ...
6 helpful home remedies for blackhead removal 1. Toothpaste-- you just apply a thin layer of toothpaste on the affected area and leave it dry for 25 minutes, then rinse it. You are advised to do that every two days and maintain this work during two weeks. 2. Lemon-- to remove blackheads on the nose with lemon, you can apply one of the three following methods: you wash your face with lukewarm water before applying a mixture of one lemon juice with a little salt on the nose. Then, you leave it for 20 minutes before rinsing the face skin with lukewarm water. You mix 2 tablespoons of oatmeal, 3 tablespoons of yogurt, 1 teaspoon of olive oil and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Then, you stir the mixture to apply to the nose. After that, you wait 5 to 7 minutes before cleaning the face with water. You blend lemon juice with cinnamon powder and apply them to the nose and keep it overnight. 3. Oatmeal-- you simply mix oatmeal and rose water to create the glutinous flour. You use the hands to spread it on the nose or the entire face. About 15 minutes later, you wash the face with water. You will feel that the skin in this area become smoother and brighter. You should apply this method several times a week to quickly remove blackheads. 4. Rice water-- you soak rice in fresh milk or cold water for 5 hours, then put it to the grinder and wait until the rice, water, and milk combine with each other to form a dense mixture which is then applied to the nose. When it becomes dry, you remove the mask from the nose and clean the nose with water. 5. Coriander-- to have a mask made from coriander, you need to pick a wisp of fresh coriander that is mixed with water to grind finely. Then, you blend this mixture with 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder and put it on the nose. After waiting 15 minutes, you clean the nose thoroughly. It is suggested to do that every day so that blackheads will be swept away. Coriander juice is mixed with lemon juice in the same proportion. Then, you apply the solution to the nose or the affected skin. Then, you leave it for 5 to 10 minutes and rinse the face thoroughly. 6. Honey-- the simplest way to treat blackheads is to gently rub the honey to the nose and the affected area. You leave it for about 15 minutes before cleaning the face with water. Another way is to blend 1 teaspoon of honey with 1 teaspoon of aloe vera juice to spread on the blackheads. 15 minutes later, you rinse with lukewarm water.

Skin Whitening Treatment With Glutathione!

Skin Whitening Treatment With Glutathione!

Almost everyone wants their skin to look healthy, rejuvenated and fairer. From home remedies to medical and cosmetic assistance, people try everything under the sun to improve their skin tone. Any discussion about skin whitening is incomplete without the mention of glutathione. Often referred to as the "Mother of all antioxidants", glutathione, a tripeptide comprising of the three amino acids- glycine, cysteine, and glutamine, also comes with detoxifying and anti-aging properties, and are extensively being used in the cosmetic industry.

Glutathione as a skin whitening agent
The pigment responsible for one's skin color is Melanin. The enzyme Tyrosinase plays a pivotal role in the synthesis of this pigment. In case of a darker complexion or an uneven skin, there is also an elevated production of Eumelanin (a pigment responsible for imparting the dark brown color). Glutathione goes a long way to inhibit the activity of the Tyrosinase enzyme which, in turn, slows down the production of melanin. Further, the antioxidant is also responsible for increased conversion of Eumelanin to Pheomelanin (responsible for imparting the yellow-red color), thereby lightening the skin tone significantly.

Glutathione, being a naturally occurring antioxidant also functions as a free radical scavenger protecting the skin from oxidative damage and the deleterious effects of the free radicals such as accelerated skin aging, wrinkles, saggy and tired looking skin, to name a few. There are specialized clinics and cosmetic centers that use glutathione as an active ingredient in a host of skin treatments including chemical peels. In most of the cases, glutathione is used in an injectable form (Glutathione Injections) to ensure its better absorption in the body They are also available in topical forms.

Some of the side effects of glutathione
The use of glutathione should be under expert guidance. People with asthma should specifically refrain from using Glutathione (be it in oral or injectable form). Elevated use of glutathione for long can also lower the level of zinc in the body and may trigger kidney, thyroid dysfunctions and peptic ulcers.

Factors that influence the glutathione level in the body
The level of Glutathione in our bodies can be affected by several factors some of which include

  • Unhealthy dietary habits (processed foods, pasteurized dairy products, artificial sweeteners, hams, hot dogs, smoked and Barbecued foods, chlorinated water) and lifestyle practices (increased intake of alcohol or tobacco ).
  • Stress, lack of sleep.
  • Increased exposure to industrial pollutants, UV-radiation.
  • The level of glutathione also decreases with age.

Thus, to boost the glutathione level in the body, enrich the diet with foods such as broccoli, cauliflower, garlic, spinach, Brussels sprouts, cardamom, cinnamon, turmeric, parsley.

  • Avoid overcooking the vegetables.
  • Use non-stick cookware on low or medium heat.
  • Make sure you follow a regular sleep cycle and avoid being overstressed.

It should be restricted in patients having altered Liver functions.
