you are very right about normal range of tsh levels. At 8.5 milli units/ml, with normal t4, the condition is classified as sub- clinical hypothyroidism. This normally is not treated with any drugs. You can take a beta blocker like metoprolol 50 mg when you feel palpitations but that is not a permanent solution. Get investigated for thyroid and heart & anemia.

If you had an angiogram done, and there is a single vessal disease with no collaterals, surgery will give good releif. If you have collaterals, both angioplasty and surgery will be good. But final decision should be taken based on the angiogram pictures.
