Yes it is harmful. You have to have strict sugar control and if high blood pressure is there then take ace - inhibitor like ramipril.

Ask your chemist for alternate brand, or ask your Dr. about changing to similar but easily available formulations like ramipril etc.

I am diabetes2 patient since last 26 year. At present my blood sugar fasting & P. P. Are 89 & 137 mg/dl & HbA1C is 4.8%, taking glimepiride1 mg od half hour before lunch & Metformin SR 1 gm od after lunch since last 34 months. I am suffering some side effects due to metformin such as excessive gas formation whole day, indication, heavy constipation, rashes & itchiness on back skin, weakness, dizziness & weightless. Hence to minimise above side effects I want to replace any other equivalent medicine in place of Metformin SR, which should be also suitable to me ie a heart's patient whose hearts bare metal standing was done on dt 29-8-13 for which I am taking Ecosprin 75 mg od daily, Atorvastatin10 mg od & Ramipril2.5 mg od on alternate days. Hence please suggest such medicine with potency which have less side effects in place of Metformin SR 1000 mg od. Thanks.

Your fasting and pp level are normal. However your hba1c is on a lower side. Did you had a low sugar (less than 70mg/dl) in last 3 months. If yes than your medication needs to be changed as low sugar in a heart patient is dangerous. I will advised you to check your sugar before breakfast, before lunch, before dinner, 2 hours after breakfast, 2 hours after lunch, 2 hours after dinner and at 3 am. Whenever you feel dizziness, hunger, sweating or palpitation than check your blood sugar at that time...more

Hello,
Few lifestyle changes can help you in controlling and preventing the high blood pressure, even if you're taking blood pressure medication. Eat healthy foods. Consume more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, poultry, fish and low-fat dairy foods. Eat less saturated fat and trans fat.
Decrease the salt in your diet. So, avoid eating processed foods, such as canned soups or frozen dinners which contains extra salt in it.

lybrate-user ,I understand your father condition. Since EF is 30, he needs CABG. If you are not willing for surgery you better go for ECCP treatment to relieve the heart block, many centres are available. I do not known from which area you are from, or state- you have not mentioned. You can have ECCP in your area, that is the only alternate to CABG. Other system of medicines will not work much. If the EF reduces further your father will have serious problems, so act swiftly do not delay.

I have a tumour like 'gaanth' (in hindi) on the upper wall near the throat in my mouth. I chew tobacco and lime (churna) whole day for the last 40 years. Not guthka but my own preparation of supari, churna and zarda mixed well in plastic. The churna concentration, if increased, repeatedly cause mouth ulcers, which gets alright after reducing churna. This is going on for last 40 years. I am diabetic on insulin, hypertensive on ramipril + amlodipine. This tumour was suddenly developed overnight last week and when I woke up, it was paining. I took 2 tabs. Of ketorol dt and the pain reduced to only 25% within a day. Also I took ordent tabs. (antibiotic with ofloxacin + ornidazole). The antibiotic seems to be doing nothing and there is now no need to take any pain killer as it pains very little if touched. But the tumour size is neither increasing nor decreasing for last ten days. Any immediate medicine to reduce the hardness? If nothing works, is it cancer? Don't say yes. My body seems resistant to cancer and this tumour is just there doing not much harm or pain till date. Advice immediately medicine to reduce this tumour or advice if something to test immediately. I wish you to try to rule out cancer but then you are the doctor to advice.
