Are Trifluoperazine and Clozapine compatible with each other or are they contra-indicated, as I am on those drugs to counter my Schizophrenia? I am put on thee drugs recently. Please confirm.

No they are not contra indicated with each other. Generally when clozapine is used, it is used alone in equivalent dose of required antipsychotics for the reason to control symptoms.
Side effects decides about combining two or more drugs generally to reduce side effect of high dose of individual drug.

I am 59 years old, Schizophrenic since 1987. I was put on various drugs since then and got relief. Of late, I am having hallucinations and delusions and hence am prescribed Trinicalm Plus 1-0-1 and Sizopin 50 mg 0-0-1. There is relief. But Trifluoperazine is causing me mild itching. My Psychiatrist has told me that this drug is also an anti-histamine and hence itching might be due to something else, but to take cetrizine, if only itching persists. I am taking cetrizine 10 mg 1-0-0, since a week and there is no itching. My question is whether to continue cetrizine as long as I am on Trifluoperazine or just stop after taking for a week? Also confirm whether cetrizine has got any side effects or is it habit forming? KIndly be specific in answers.

You ahve to stop cetirizine and try to to find out he allergen and avoid it . Cetirizine can be habit forming

Greeting. My father had undergone hydatid liver surgery in 2015. Post surgery he recovered well. One year after surgery he developed anxiety, stress, restlessness so doctor advised peace tablet (chlordiazepoxide and trifluoperazine. Now he wants to stop this medication. Is it safe to stop peace tablet medication suddenly? Or there will be withdrawal symptoms? Please reply.

He needs to be evaluated by a qualified psychiatrist before changing the dose or stopping the medication. Stopping the medication suddenly can cause withdrawal symptoms and aggravate anxiety possibly.

Currently, I am on the following drugs:-Depression = Venlor XR 75 mg 1-0-1Anxiety = espazine 1 mg 1-1-0Schizophrenia = Trinicalm plus 1-0-1 Amisant 100 mg 1-0-1This combination has been prescribed by my psychiatrist. There is relief. I have 2 questions. Please answer. A) Is this combination OK, or are there any contra-indications. B) There is Trifluoperazine in both Trinicalm plus (5 mg) and espazine 1 mg. Therefore, will there be any test, because I am taking 12 mg in total. Kindly, answer at the earliest.

Mere dimag me kalpnik ghatna chalte rehta hai. Aisa ghatna chalte rehta hai jisko maine dekha nahi hai. Kalpnik ghatna ko dekhkar mai hasta hu. Maine psychiatrist ki help se medicine trifluoperazine aur amisulpride liya. But koi sudhar nahi hua. Mai 4 saal se is problem ko ghel rha hu. Please mughe upchar ke bare me batayein.

This combination is OK, no problem in this combination. Dose trifluoperazine is also OK, not to worry. It is also safe in diabetes and asthma. If you have not any symptoms on this combination than its OK. Continue same.

Dear Lybrate doctor, I need not have to tell you about my mental condition and the drugs taken to counter them, since I have elaborated them in my previous texts. You have been very patient in answering queries, not bothering about the times I ask them. I have a lot of trust in you and my queries are purely a second opinion detail, before being thrown into the fray right away. Depression and anxiety are taken care of by nexito forte & clonotril .25 mg and hence there are no issues here. The main problem is to find a suitable combination to counter my schizophrenia. As mentioned to you in my previous queries, I have tried so many combinations, some with relief and some found wanting. Due to financial constraints, I am unable to afford for costly drugs. The latest combination goes this way:- 1)trinicalm plus 1-0-1. 2)sizopin 75 mg 0-0-1. This combination is cheap and hence affordable. My query is:- can this combination be taken together or either they are contraindicated or there will be any drug interactions. Also, highlight me about trifluoperazine (trinicalm plus), it’s uses, side effects and drug interactions. At present, for depression/anxiety, I am on nexito forte along with clonotril 0.25 mg and sizopin and cizorest for schizophrenia. There is relief please answer my queries. Thanks.

It is not clear as to what medications you are currently taking. Is it cizorest or trinicalm? In both cases there are no drug interactions and if you have any it would be an isolated or rare event. I have been suffering from anxiety disorder since 2017 and irritable bowel syndrome since 2013 and it got severe in 2020 so I am under treatment of my psychiatrist since then and all the symptoms are controlled but with the cost of some side effects I am taking nexpro 40 in the morning along with metoprolol xl 25 before breakfast and after breakfast desvenlafaxine 50 and 0.25 mg clonazepam and in the night desvenlafaxine 50 trifluoperazine 1 mg and clonazepam 0.25 but it is causing me side effects like fast heart above 100 always so betablocker is prescribed to counter it and I always feel sleepy type and have long sleep cannot wake up till afternoon and then also feel sleepy I want to get rid of meds or change it but reducing any of the meds cause anxiety again I know most docs will answer consult doc but I am already under consultation kindly advice so that I can discuss with my doc or try something of my own.

Dear lybrate-user, both anxiety disorder and irritable bowel can be managed non medically, if you are motivated to try continuously for months together. I don't know since how long you are taking these tablets. Most of the drowsiness tend to reduce in 2-3 weeks. Heart rate above 100 is well controlled by beta blocker. Hi I am 28 years old male with severe ed. All due to masturbation. Had porn addiction too. Currently stopped masturbation n porn. These days I'm experiencing severe ed, with zero libido. I am taking l arginine 5g with zinc 2.5 mg right now. It's has been almost week's time. Besides, I have been diagnosed with OCD with Major psychological sex disorder by psychiatrist. Doctor told me me that masturbation is a kind of OCD. Although I had a history of OCD. In my case it is recurring OCD. Now on antidepressants like paroxetine 12.5 mg, trifluoperazine 1 mg and chlordiazepoxide10 mg for 3 months of which almost 2 months are over. Anxiety, and depression is almost over now. My question is for ed and low libido, will L arginine help me in overcoming. I don't want to take vasodilators like Viagra etc. Besides how long does it take to reset libido. I tested my testosterone, FSH, LH, Prolactin etc they are all normal. I am not diabetic as well. I lost that urge that I had few months back, that I used to get started very quickly. Now I feel full with foggy mind. No interest in sex. Is L arginine 5g good for my ED.
