My best explanation to you would be to observe the particular dog for 10 days if you can. Rabid animals are either highly excited and irritated all time or they are too depressed and silent. Their death occurs within 10 days of incubation of virus.
Rabies viruses can be examined only on microscope that too from brain tissue. So it is better clinically diagnosed.
