Hi Please tell me what is the current treatment? If you are on Galvusmet 50/1000 and Pioglar 2G 15, it is possible that there may be an occasional episode of hypoglycemia. Mainly due to glimiperide 2 mg. It will be good if you do a regular blood glucose check up at home, keep a record of the levels. I have seen the details mentioned. As regards your blood glucose control, it is excellent. In such a situation I do not see the need for any additional medication like pioglitazone half tablet twice a day. As regards bp and changing to benidipine it may be in your doctors judgment that drug could be more suitable to you. I really have no say on that. However, I do not see any reason for adding pioglitazone with metformin when you have such a good control. Thanks.

Get your fasting and pp blood sugar test done and consult your doctor who give you suitable substitute.

Metformin acts peripherally at the tissue level and Pioglitazone is one of the alternative but depends on patient to patient

You can add DPP4 inhibitor to your medication .If it does not work,add long acting insulin at bedtime and stop pioglitazone.Earlier you start insulin,more better it is.

As per my information these tablets are available in all the places. In case you are not able to get then can go for similar combination other brands like k - pio gm or can take tablets containing glimiperide plus metformin and a separate tablet of pioglitazone. Thanks.

There has some hue n cry about pioglitazone two years back but that is politics between pharma companies. MOREOVER Bladder cancer risk is with high dose that is 30 mg or above but it's benefits overweigh risk. In India Doctors are using this salt for 15 years.Nobody has seen any case of bladder cancer. On the contrary cancer is more seen in people who are not diabetics and aren't using pioglitazone. So rest assured you are on right track.Good luck.
