Health Query

I am 29 years old. I gave birth to a premature baby boy at 35 weeks. Now he is 2 months 10 days old. Without correct size nipple it was not possible for my baby to suck milk from me. Then I started to pump milk and feed him. But it was possible only for a month then milk secretion reduced in quantity and finally got stopped. I took perinorm tablets for one month as advised by my doctor but didn't work. I gave dexolac special care to my baby for first month and then after changed to nan pro 1 as prescribed by the doctor. Now the baby is fine and has increased in weight also. Can I give any food supplements like cerelac or any other to my baby? and should I take any medication or since the milk secretion has stopped, can I leave it as it is now?

Complementary feeding should be started after 6 months preferably bt you can start it after 4 and half months in some special cases

One of my 8 months old twin son did not breastfeed from day one so I gave him prenan. Everything was ok till 1st month then suddenly one day he vomited. After 2 days he vomited again. I took him to his pediatrician who prescribed perinorm. But the chemist mistakenly gave me azithromycin. Which I gave him for 3 days x 3 times. My baby' s vomiting worsened after that. He started vomiting 4 - 5 times a day. And did not take his feed easily. As if he is never hungry. Till now he do not like to be fed and if fed anyhow, he vomits. It' s 7 months now but he has no relief from his vomits. His weight gain is about 200-250 gms per month.

How much he is weighing at 7 months? azithromycin may have nothing to do with this. Force feeding might be the reason of vomiting, if weight is appropriate, leave him alone, respect his wishes. Stay cool.

Hiccups since 7 days. Cough since 7 days. My dad went to shabarimala place where he climbed a hill of 7-8 kms, he is a cardiac patient and he is operated with stent 3 years back. He is diabetic since 8 yrs. After coming from shabarimala he had fever with chills and that day hiccups lasted for 1-2 hrs only. From next day he is having continuous hiccups. For which we consulted cardiologist and also gastroenterologist. They conducted all tests and all r normal. We have taken pantoprazole (other related drugs) and other drugs like sucralfate and baclofen for 3 days but no relief. So he had given perinorm oral evn then no relief. And for cough he was given clavam 625 and ascoril LS. Evn after 7 doses of clavam cough was subsiding. So pulmonologist changed the drug. He gave doxycycline (doxtyl) and deletus -D and also nebulization with levolin and budecort since 2 days. After starting doxycycline he had motions watery in consistency, for which he was given metrogyl 400 mg tid and redotil BD and sporlac tid. Not under standing wat to do.

Please Ask him to take deep inspiration, hold for few seconds, release slowly. Do it repeatedly, it will help to stop hiccups. Give Tab Dompan SR 5
1 on empty stomach Tab yastimadhu by Himalaya 10 1 1 Sy ulgel A 2 tsf three times a day Tab trika 7
0.5 mg Half tab in the morning and 1 tab at nt Consult me again till he feels better.

My son is 5 weeks 4 days old. Born with a birth weight of 2.6 kg and current weight 3.3 kg. My son is continuously breastfeeding for 2 hrs at a stretch yet he remain hungry. After initial meconium for 2 days he passes stool at every 2-3 day interval. Now d stool is yellow mustard in colour and smelly. He has 6-10 wet diaper everyday. As my son always remained unsatisfied with my milk I introduced nanpro1 on day 9 once a day which was made twice a day from day 15. Now he takes 2 times upper feed sometimes 3.my son is active but when I take him off my breast after 2 hrs and keep on bed he gets up in 10 mins and starts sticking his tongue out and then starts crying n if I prepare number in 15 mins and gv .he happily gulps down 60- 90 ml. Do you think I have low supply issues or wrong latching issue. D dosage of nanpro1 is to b increased or not. When I pump I get 30 ml from both breast. Wat can b done to improve supply. Currently taking perinorm from last two weeks n lactare powder.

We recommend breastfeed for 20 -30 minutes. Hence it seems either he is not sucking properly. Please take weight before and after breastfeed to find his sucking ability. Feeding in neonates is almost every hourly in day time but for 10-15 minutes.

My father is suffering from hiccups for a month. Doctors advice him for USG. According to that he is OK. Plenty of PPI he has already taken. Ayurvedic medicines doesn't work. He is 70 years old. Having BP and diabetes. He had been gone to angioplasty. Please advise what to do.

Hiccups could be due to multiple causes. If ultrasound is okay please get endoscopy done too look for any oesophageal infection. Take tablet Perinorm twice a day for 3 days. It will help.
