No, I wouldn't advice. It's not worthwhile. Pentavac though painful a bit, offers better immune response. IAP advises DTwP (pentavac) for primary immunization and DTaP (pentaxim) as a booster dose at 18 months.

If your grandmother is not hiv positive or hepatitis b/c positive you don't need to worry. If you had a tetanus toxoid injection during past 5 years you don't need a dose. What you need to work upon is your weight because you are very obese.

Hi, thanks for your query.
Since you already had taken a tetanus toxoid inj. Recently, there is no need for a booster dose. If the wound isn't too deep and it's clean get a regular dressing done or if manageable with a bandage, use it. If the wound is contaminated or the cut was by an unclean instrument chance of infection is present. In such a case it would be advisable to start a antibiotic like amoxicillin. Else just keep the wound clean and paracetamol for pain would be enough. Kindly vi...more

It is the first vaccine that the doctor will ask your child to get if he/she gets wound. Tetanus is a rare but severe condition which occurs when bacteria enter into an open wound. It can turn fatal if left untreated, so you need to follow the vaccination schedule in order to control the infection. Indulging in substance abuse (especially the ones that require injecting with syringes) increases the risk of tetanus.
