Most often it's viral infection. Fever usually settles down in 3 to 4 days. Cough takes 7 to 10 days. Continue same treatment. Small children get frequent infections because of low immunity.

There's nothing like high or low antibiotics. All antibiotics should be used judiciously as it may lead to resistance. I think your child is suffering from allergy. Best way is to avoid possible allergen like dust. Pollen etc. Put saline nasal drops frequently into each nostril whenever he has symptoms of cold.
