Xylometazoline acts on adrenergic receptors of nasal mucosa to relieve the congestion by constricting the inflamed or swollen nasal blood vessels.
If you are a patient of high blood pressure or suffering from any cardiac ailment please avoid the drug.
Otherwise you may feel free to use it. Better not take overdose.

There are no studies that have looked at use of xylometazoline during pregnancy. Although, there is low absorption of xylometazoline into the bloodstream after using otrivine nasal spray, it is usually not recommended for use during pregnancy.
So meet ent surgeon to get your treatment.

Mucolite sr capsule is best! twice daily for 5 days. Do not take otrivin. Use nasoclear which will cleanse the passage only. Though not good relief, it is safe for now. Also use karvol plus steam inhalation capsules and do steam inhale with water everyday.

Dear Lybrateuser,
-Do steam inhalation twice a day
- you can use xylometazoline drop but only for 3-4 days, prolonged use cause weakening of nasal mucosa & hence chronic infection
- consult an entire specialist for proper management.
