Life style modification (like diet control, regular exercise, weight reduction and maintaining etc) is more important to control it.

hba1c u've entered is incorrect-its never 2.3. Every medication has some side effects inherent in it. What is more damaging is the fluctuating and high b. Sugar levels. Your controlling that levels should be utmost priority. And its not yet controlled. Further clarification needed.
