I want to decide best vaccination plan for my child. Till now she has received BCG, OPV & HepB at time of birth. I am concerned about the safety of pentavalent vaccines (DTaP-Hep B- HiB), due to many death cases reported in media. Please help to identify the safest vaccination plan and suggest safest brands.

For the record, any vaccine can cause severe anaphylaxis and death, but it is very rare. Millions of children are being vaccinated on day to day basis. You should not be unduly worried. There is a standard vaccination schedule recommended by the IAP and Government of India. Take vaccination, where there are facilities to treat any untoward reaction arising out of vaccination.

My 4 month old baby is having loose stools since 2 days. She gets loose stools after after every 2-3 weeks since last 45 days. She's on breastfeed and formula feed since very beginning. From last 15 days we have started apple puree for her. We have shown to doctor and they prescribed lac plus tab. But it's not helping much. What can I do for relief? And why is she getting loose motions again and again? Her vaccination schedule is up to date till now. (Opv, Ipv, Bcg, Rota, PCV, Pneumo)

Maybe something wrong with the formula. Get a sensitive one or lactose free. Also stop apples, only after 6 month start fooding. Continue probiotics.

Sir/madam my child is 3 months old and has taken following vaccination. Birth- bcg, opv-0, hep-b1 6 week - imovax polio, pentavac, rotarix1 10 week- imovax polio, quadrovax only. Now my concern is whether the vaccination quadrovax be given in place of pentavac as changed in 6 and 10 week. And also the doctor is saying to give rotatek in place of rotarix due to its unavailability, should it possible?

Follow your doctor's advice, it is fine. He has appropriately given pentavac at 6 wks and quadrovax at 10 weeks. Difference is because of hepatitis b. It is to be given at birth, 1, 6 months. So your doctor has given 2nd dose of hep b at 6weeks (pentavac contains hep b). At 10 weeks hep b was not given as per schedule (quadrovax doesn't contain hep b) rotateq ok if earlier one not available.

I went through 3rd instillation of 2nd phase of once bcg, after that frequent urination, with itching sensation and pain around the pelvic region. Prescribed doxt-sl and mirbeg for a week now, current routine urine test shows 40-45 leukocytes, but no growth of bacteria in culture. Pain while urination is less a bit now, but the frequency of urination is still every 1 hour, even at night. What should I do?

Excessive urination volume or polyuria occurs when you urinate more than normal. Urine volume is considered excessive if it equals more than 2.5 liters per day.
Excessive urine output can sometimes signal health problems, including kidney failure, diabetes, bladder infection ,sickle cell anemia or may be certain kinds of cancer.
If you feel like there is some part of blood in your urine then perhaps this indicates to bladder infection.

I had sex with a boy who is a leprosy patient which I came to know later. Did sex for three days with a month gap for each will the leprosy spread to sex and through lip kiss. He is currently taking medicine and antibiotics for the leprosy. Is it true that if the leprosy patients is in treatment that they become less contagious? Could you please help me out with this. What are the test for to know whether there is leprosy or not? Will that can be tested through a blood test. What are the prevention methods can I take to avoid leprosy. Hi, my question is regarding the vaccination of my newly born daughter. She was born on 6 sep 2018. The first shot of BCG, Hepatitis B, Vitamin K was given at hospital after birth. DPT. HIB, Hepatitis B, IPV, Rota Virus and PCV shots are to be given at six weeks. Is it essential to give these shots exactly at six weeks or can be taken a week or two later.

There is no harm if the first vaccination of Penta vaccine and IP or OPV is delayed for a week or two and you can give at 8 weeks or 2 months of age

If the bcg scar is not visible, he is unimmunised against tb or otherwise a vaccination failure and can get tb in future. So, he should be given the vaccine now at the earliest.

Hi I am a man, I am 49 years old and I have a foley catheter in my urethra after a bladder operation. I had surgery on my bladder 5 times using the turb method. The first histopathological result was positive pta 2.5 years ago, after which the other 3 were negative. I was treated with bcg. Now i'm waiting for the fifth result. Can I masturbate under these conditions with the foley catheter in the urethra?

Masturbation leads to urethral irritation as it is an unnatural form of sex. So it can cause urinary tract infection.

Hello Doctors! My mom has 'low grade papillary urothelial carcinoma She Underwent TUTBT 3 time in last 7 years. The previous one was in January 2017, after which, 2 times cycstocopy (resulted NO RECURRENCE OF TUMOUR). She had 2 rounds of BCG. The second round was very troubling for her as she had irritation in the bladder all day long, plus increased frequency of urinating (Urge to pee every 20 mins day & night both). COnsidering this situation, the oncologist did hydrochloric dilution which had some good results (Frequency reduced to 1 hr) Right after getting this side effect of BCG, the doctor suggested to take AKT-3 (Medcn used to cure Tuberculosis). He suggested to continue it for 4 months. Now my question is whether taking AKT-3 involves any side effect? Or is is really true AKT-3 helps in reducing inflammation in the bladder? In short, whether she should continue taking AKT-3 or shall she stop it?

AKT is recommended if there are features of BCG toxicosis. However, if patient is not able to tolerate AKT, we need to review. Please consult for further advise.
