Your cholesterol and triglyceride levels are high and you also want to lose weight. Orlistat is the medicine which is prescribed for weight loss. However in my experience it is not a very effective medicine. Our body maintains its weight in a range bound fashion. It tries to keep the weight within a strict range. So whenever we lose weight, our body...more

If you have morbid obesity detrimental to your health, your doctor may prescribe such medicines like orlistat. But they have significant bad side effects. So the risk of side effects to the benefit of the medicine will be taken into consideration by your doctor and then prescribed accordingly. Best way to reduce fat is to exercise daily and follow a good diet plan.

Hye. Thankyou for your query.
Usually the loss initially is mostly due to a lot of muscle loss, when you try to lose weight with medicines. As such age is a mild factor but with the medicines and the loss of weight coupled with muscle loss, the body drops the metabolism. Also muscle loss causes reduced fat burn.
