Now a days citalopram is replaced by Eacitalopam. Now you have to change your medicine because now. A days I have not seen any doctor who prescribe citalopram.
And one more issue for which you have to consult your about your stage of depression, Citalopram has higher side effects than Eacitalopam.

Citalopram and fluoxetine did not directly affect penile erection as objectively assessed by rigiscan, although an impairment in the subjective assessment of erectile function was observed, but was significant only for citalopram, and it was thought to be a possible consequence of the delayed ejaculation perceived as erectile dysfunction.

Ssris are the best available drug and you can start low dose of ssri and gradually titrate to reduce dose dependent side effects. Sexual side effects are not so common as you think. It occurs in 1-2 patients out of 10. So, there is a bright chance you might not have major side effects. You got to take this small risk considering risk and benifit ratio. You will need a preliminary evaluation before starting medications. So, you can consult me online or any other good psychiatrist nearby before st...more

You are into an anger-related depression and need the assistance of a counselor too. This I am sure you have not tried and that is why there is so much trouble coming out of the depression. So find a good counselor and work with that person along with the medication you are taking. A lot of your symptoms are either induced by the depression or is a part of the disorder. So they should all stand to benefit if you combined the two therapies. In the meantime please do the following sincerely becaus...more

Dear Rekha,
Ask your chemist to substitute any company's Citalopram. Please check on the dose carefully. If it is Escitalopram, it will be half the dose of Citalopram. It can be given with water, tea or milk.
Discuss with your doctor so that you can shift to Escitalopram in future.

Treatment options include counselling and medication, such as antidepressants. Several studies have examined ssris in treating trichotillomania and skin picking. The ssris include fluoxetine (prozac), fluvoxamine (luvox), sertraline (zoloft), citalopram (celexa), escitalopram (lexapro), and paroxetine (paxil).

Madam tablet contains citalopram as an active ingredient which is usually used for depression. It's not ayurvedic. Saphala is ayurvedic. My opinion is that for the purpose you mentioned, more effective regimen of ayurveda is required to be given which should initiate aartav shuddhi, regularity of cycles and stabilizing the foetus. Saphala is good but I think better treatment is required. Citalopram is for anxiety, depression, ocd, panic disorders etc and has side effects. I would not recommend t...more
