Hello, I was treated by olanzapine "oleanz 2.5" and that causes me many side effects including parkinsonism and tremor, difficulty in standing, walking, soft speech, voice box spasms, early awakening, nightmares, restless sleep, or sleep disturbances, and some more. Please help me and let me know can I take pacitane tablet 2 mg for this?

Hello,
Olanzipine is known to cause Parkinsons disease like symptoms. but the dose you are taking is minimal. the main thing is to reassess the need for antipsychotics and are they realyy required. Secondly you can try Pacitane

Yes I know taking olanzapine without proper recommendation is not good. But a lot of physicians who are family friends have told me to go on with it. But then I have strange feelings in my head. Like particular parts of my brain are moving. It subsidies when I balance it with fluoxetine. Thanks.could you tell me whether 2.5 mg a day is okay to take as a mood stabilizer?

its not a bad thing to get a counselling from psychotherapist
in today's environment its normal to have mood swings, depression, anxiety
you feel relieved after taking a proper treatment
these medicine will help you but not to that extend. i request you to get a proper treatment

I take paroxetine 50 mg dosage and olanzapine 2.5 mg becoz of my anxiety and depression. Recently my doctor changed my benzos and prescribed me toficalm-50 twice daily. But after this, I am feeling that my concentration has got affected a bit. So is there any possibility for toficalm to affect the concentration in a student? Thanks I take cbt as well.

Dear lybrate-user, it is possible that benzodiazepines do affect concentration. However give it a few days till your brain gets used to it. If you feel the difficulty in concentration is persistent or intolerable please contact your prescribing physician soon.

Hello doc! my sister using antidepressants medicines which is called olanzapine olapine plus tablets and trihydroxyphenydil hydrochloride paramil 2 mg tablets she missed her periods it's been already 2 months now she used regestrone tablets to get her periods back still she didn't get her periods back sexually not active what happening with her could please clarify.

These medicines can increase serum prolactin levels leading to missing periods. Get her serum prolactin levels checked and if high, consult her doctor regarding the management.

My mother, 62 years of age has been suffering from dementia and depression since 2016. She was prescribed dveniz, daxid for depression and admenta (bds), aricep (ods) for dementia since september, 2016. The disease has progressed albeit slowly. But there had been behavioral changes specially repetitive behaviour, frequent fits of aggression etc. Because of the increased aggressive tendencies, her doctor asked to stop antidepressants in january 2020. aggressive behavior dwindled down after that. However it increased a bit since december 2020. Due to unavailability of the previous psychiatrist we had to consult a separate psychiatrist in february, 2021. He started a new drug, olanzapine 2.5 (ods). My mother started taking the drug since february 10th. However she started getting quite drowsy from the middle of march. So we had to visit the doctor on march 26th. He asked to stop olanzapine 2.5 and continue with aricep and admenta. She was more or less fine till last tuesday, 6th april. But suddenly from 7th april there was a total change in everything. It's almost like she's spellbound! totally lost and not being able to do basic daily activities. It's almost like her brain has been switched off. She's walking slowly, not being able to eat/ drink on her own. And since yesterday she's having trouble using the toilet too. Not being able to pass urine or stools. Is this because of the drug olanzapine? If so, then can some other drug be used to negate these side effects of olanzapine?

It is sad to convey but symptoms you suggested are of disease progression and not because of side effects of on going medications.

I have been on olanzapine for about 7 years due to a few drug induced psychosis I am now off it and mentally healthy. I was wondering will I get back more energy because I feel fatigued from the medication. I also have erectile dysfunction from the medicine, and was wondering will that go away now. I am only 25 so that's a young age to be impotent.

Hi, I can understand your worries. I would suggest you to take some counseling sessions with a good psychotherapist. Join a meditation group and also join some positive group activities like sports or music. Basically you have to relax mentally and your body needs some exercise.

9 months ago I was suffering schizophrenia symptoms as well as mania episode. Then after taking treatment of one haloperidol injection and divalproex with olanzapine tablets for 4 months feeling recovered. Now I am feeling sensation and mild pain back of head? How long I have take medications?

Hi I struggle with anxiety and depression and take fluoxetine 20 mg 2-2-x petril beta 20 1-x-1 olanzapine 5 mg x-x-1 the meds have helped my symptoms like anxiety, low mood, suicidal thoughts, low self esteem and other depression related symptoms. But I still have anhedonia. And I was just prescribed bupron xl 150, is it safe to take these meds together.

you are already on 80 mg fluoxetine. There is no need for buproprion. Sometimes excessoive dosage can lead to switch to mania. Better go for some relaxation exercises and activity scheduling. Thanks.

Hello,
I being a neurologist its difficult to comment on the problem you are facing. But my sincere advise will to get hold of a decent psychiatrist or a institute/medical college with a psychiatrist for proper treatment. You should not neglect it and these can be treated. At the moment you seem to be getting a cocktail of medicines and this needs to be relooked at for better treatment.

Hi Before 4 years after a vasco-vagal EPS episode (an injection architol reacted and gone wrong, my left side paralysed, it got fixed at that time with Tab Pacitane), Now I sometimes get panic attacks and unable to do concentrate without sleep, still my left side is sometimes shivering, legs and hands become numb, have nervousness, sometimes unable to eat food also due to GERD, Unable to bear a extreme hot weather, my breathing is long, I do not feel like taking shower or brushing my teeth. I was not like this before, I hate myself. I have anxiety, has recommended "Tolaz 10 md" I took for 6 months now. I'm tired all day. Test I have done: Brain MRI scan - which was with extreme difficulty because I was unable to bear the sound of the scan machine in my ears and head, EEG, Blood work tablets I have taken: pacitane - which worked that time, now triggers panic attack if I take it. Tolaz 10 md - puts me to sleep, I'm tired all day, taken for 6 months/ have spent most of my savings, now dependent I'am allergic to amoxicillin and sulphur drugs.
