every insulin has it's time of action. for example human mustard 30/70 has 12 hrs of action or actrapid has 6-8hrs , novorapid 4 hrs humalog 4 hrs humalog mix25/75 has 12hrs lantus (glargine) has 24 hrs etc..
after it is finished then sugars will start rising again and need another shot.

Probably you are taking 80 units of insulin/day. Yes I can start you on cheaper insulin and it may control your sugars better with proper diet and excersize. However I may need your past history and treatment records.

Insulin dosage cannot be reduced as the sugars are not in control, instead we have to increase the dose of evening insulin and morning insulin as wekl.
