This is a skin lightening agent for topical application, because it is a combination medicament, thus it works via multiple mechanism. Firstly, it inhibits tyrosinase enzyme, which is an important enzyme in the biosynthesis of melanin pigments. Inhibition of tyrosinase thus inhibits production of melanin pigments, leading to skin lightening. Secondly, it inhibits the formation, release, and migration of chemical mediators like kinins, histamine, liposomal enzymes, and prostaglandin. It also decreases inflammation by inhibiting the migration of leukocytes and reducing the permeability of capillaries. And lastly, it also works by binding to alpha, beta, and gamma retinoic acid receptors (RARs) thus activating them. This produces changes in the gene expression that leads to decreased cell multiplication, inhibition of tumoriogenesis and cell differentiation. Altogether it alleviates the symptoms.
Whenever you take more than one medicine, or mix it with certain foods or beverages, you"re at risk of a drug interaction.
