A study on treatments for nighttime coughing in children compared dark honey with the cough-suppressing medication dextromethorphan and with no treatment.
To use honey to treat a cough, mix 2 teaspoons (tsp) with warm water or an herbal tea.
Reduce caffeine. While some headache medications include caffeine because it can be beneficial in reducing headache pain, it can also aggravate headaches.

The medicine is found to have slight risk in pregnancy but in your case the benefits outweigh the risk as your cough if not improved can be more harmful to the baby. Continue with the advice and also take saline gargles or steam inhalation.
