As you are improving significantly. Your benzodiazepine dose was stopped and changed to escitalopram only drug to prevent dependence to benzodiazepine. Initial mild sleep disturbances may settle in a week. If not your consultant will review and plan accordingly. This can happen in many patients so don’t worry too much.
Good luck.

Dear lybrate-user, Rexipra which is escitalopram can cause sexual dysfunction, so can depression - anxiety/stress. Bupropion is an antidepressant which doesn't cause any sexual dysfunctions. You can consult with your practitioner/psychiatrist and start it. For anxiety problems you can also learn some easy & basic relaxation techniques like abdominal breathing techniques, Progressive muscular relaxation from internet or through your psychiatrist. Controlling anxiety and stress through these techn...more

Dear Abhrajit,
Since you are on the lowest dose of 5 mg Escitalopram, you need not taper. You can stop without tapering. But, 3 months may be too early to stop in case of major depressive disorder. i don't know the diagnosis for which stalopam mini was prescribed.

I'm on medication currently for anxiety and depression i'm taking etilaam 0.25 and depranex-10 along with richer cr for iron deficiency. I want to know that someday i'm fully ok and sometimes I don't know why I feel anxious like if I go outside after taking etilaam then a falling or sinking type of sensation happens suddenly and after the medication gets completely mixed into my bloodstream I start to feel calm. Couldn't getting it thoroughly why is it happening so also because my whole body blood report tests are also totally normal beside iron and vitamin d deficiency. I've also spoke to my psychiatrist about this she told me to relax .and also advised to cut down slowly my etilaam pills by reducing 25% after 10 days. But then also this sudden bad feeling bothers me .is it normal doctors and how long it'd take me to get fully recovered from it.

Hi lybrate-user,
you need to discuss with your psychiatrist to further optimize your classic anti-anxiety or antidepressant drugs (escitalopram dose can be further build up to 20 mg per day and if needed another medicine can be added to augment effect of escitalopram) before tapering off and stopping etizolam. It's happening because your anxiety and depression is not yet completely remitted. Whole body blood reports have to be normal before calling it anxiety disorder. Vitamin d has to be ta...more

Hi, thanks for writing in. Welcome to the forum. No, cipralex taken by father will not influence offspring. Depending upon the dose and individual characteristics, sexual performance may be positively or negatively influenced. Ejaculation time may increase, libido might decrease or increase and erection may or may not be affected. Regardless, offspring will not be affected. Take care!

Hello, since you are on treatment for anxiety, escitalopram is one of the best medicine to help you overcome your symptoms. Though it may cause decreased sex drive or/and libido as a side effect, you don't have to worry because it is reversible on stopping or changing the medicine. You should discuss it with your doctor who will definitely change or moderate the medicine depending on the treatment response.

For management of depression, the first choice of medicine is the group ssri that includes nexito. So I advise nexito as the better option.

No, Stalopam should not be stopped. Instead you can use a Multivitamin tablet or syrup and emeset for the nausea. Sudden stoppage is Stalopam is not recommended. If you found my answer helpful, please leave a like/ thanks. Thank you.

Nexito (escitalopram) is less likely to cause weight gain. Even if it does, it won't be more than 2-3 kgs over 5-6 months. But this weight gain can be easily prevented by proper lifestyle changes. Exercise regularly, atleast walk for 30 min daily. Eat high fibre and low fat food. Eat salads. This will control your weight. You have to understand that controlling your ocd is far more important to maintain your occupational functioning as compared to the weight gain. I know airlines are strict with...more
