Hi lybrate-user,
he should be feeling better with medicine soon. In the meanwhile, recommend to consult a psychologist on a regular basis. This would help him to have an open interaction and feel a bit relaxed. Avoid watching news or sharing much insights on covid19. Treat and talk to him as normal as he is. Engage him with some physical activity or hobbies or any thing of his interest. Probably a comedy movie would help him to laugh a bit and speak good words. You will get to see some resul...more

Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. Recent reports have raised the concern that clozapine increases the risk for diabetes mellitus. Accurate pharmacoepidemiologic data on whether such a hazard exists and its magnitude are needed to enable clinicians and patients to make proper treatment decisions about clozapine. I suggest you to consult your psychiatrist for more clear insight. Take care.

There might be some limitations in schizophrenia depending on individuals. There are also people who function very well. Discuss your specific doubts with your treating psychiatrist. I am sure they will be able to help you. Good luck.

Oral bioavailability of clozapine is around 25-28% which is less as compared to other drugs. However it is a very good medication fir schizophrenia, no doubts on that. Side effects do not necessarily occur in every patient and it may not be related to its bioavailability.
Studies on nano drug delivery options for clozapine are ongoing and have shown promising results. There is however no consensus on how long will it take to enter markets and be available for use.

If formula 1, cars can't reach you to a place, can small cars do the same. You seem to be having resistant symptoms and very high potency drugs including clozapine have been given. 5htpn and l tyrosine are very very weak over the counter health supplements which are very expensive and lack much efficacy. Better come to terms with the illness and aim to select the medication group which gives best relief amongst the one which you have mentioned in consult with your psychiatrist. Good luck.

The choice of antipsychotic lies on treating doctor. Medicines are chosen based on patient profile and side effects. Both are good. If on Skizoril you have get repeat blood count done. Both cause wight gain .so diet and exercise is essential. Don't stop medicine yourself.

It is not advisable to take clozapine only for Sleep. There are several other alternatives to use to improve sleep especially if you find risperidone is helping to improve your condition and there are no major side effects. If so Please stay on risperidone and ask your Psychiatrist to add sleeping tablet.

Dear lybrate-user,
with clozapine 600 mg alone, if you were good, your psychiatrist would not have added amisulpride. Please talk to your psychiatrist and the family member who accompanies you, about how good you were with clozapine 600 mg. By the way, amisulpride must be 100 mg - not 10 mg as you have mentioned.

Lybrate-user: People suffering from schizophrenia should take their medications daily. Occasional use can lead to emergence of symptoms. Clozapine especially is a medication that should only be taken under supervision of a physician with very regular blood work to make sure WBC count (cells that fight infection) are not getting too low.
