I have been having a problem of anxiety and dysphoria for last 3 years. I am on paroxetine 62.5 mg and olanzapine 5 mg. I tried a lot of antidepressants but none of those worked for me. Paroxetine solves 80% of my mood problems but for the rest 20% I need an addition. Could you please suggest me a nootropil/ health supplement which can help in enhancing my mood. I have already tried the following two but they increased my anxiety. 1. Tab sulbutiamine 200 mg 2. Acetyl l-carnitine tab 500 mg. I will surely discuss it with my doctor first. Please suggest! have recently started therapy as well. Thank you. Looking forward to receiving your valuable suggestions.

It is difficult, to say the least, to deal with anxiety and dysphoria for 3 years and especially so when you have tried many antidepressants. We are glad to know that paroxetine has worked for you - and 80% of your symptoms are better. My son met with road accident 3 years ago and suffered severe brain injury. Now though he is physically, he is still suffering from acute shirt term memory loss. He was was doing his bites 2nd year. Now due to retaining capacity as very low unable to pursue further education. He is on donep10 mg twice a day sincere than a year and nootropil 800 mg also. He had been given many medicines before that also. But now we have reached a point where we are seeing no improvement in memory issues. My question is that can these medicines hammer the memory if used for so long. Since his accident he is been continuously on medicines are there any other better medicines which can help him in improving his memory.

Medications can only stimulate the neurotransmitters, they work for some and do not for others. Especially for those recovering from post traumatic sequelae, it is not easy. Keep trying various options. Good luck.

My 18 years boy is suffering from mood disorder and emotional disorder sometimes and also 10% learning disability but he is smart for looking and other times he is very quite. In the time of moodout he willnot obey parents and very angry to his 9 years old sister. What is his problem i saw many doctors but do not identify anything. MRA scan take last month (i saw a neurologist) but according to the scan doctor said no problems. He prescribe piracetam 800. Doctor please tell me can cure my boy ?what is his problem? My son is of age 25 years and suffering sudden severe anxiety problem since last one year, it happens suddenly during his regular routine work. During that time he runs fast here & there with full of sweat and harm himself to bite his finger and hand, after sometime about 3-5 minutes he become normal. After that he told that he was in anger with no reason. Ct scan, mri & eeg almost normal. I shown to neuro he said that there are some green spot in report which is some abnormal and suggested olanzapine-400, venlanz-25, valtec cr-300, piramax-800 (piracetam tab.) since one year, but even taking regular medicines, he is not being cured completely. I would like to know whether my treatment is in right direction?

Some people have to take regular medicines to manage their symptoms of anxiety. In addition to medicines, cognitive behaviour therapy is very effective in treating anxiety. Combination of both will help him to a great extent.

Sir my father is suffering from acute ischemic brain stroke from 7 months. He is using the medicines specially for brain stroke are prexron plus, aspirin, atorvastatin and a medicine neurlin which is combination of vitamin b6+vitamin b12+folic acid. I want to know, should a medicine prexron plus which is combination of two elements i.e. Citicoline and piracetam be used till now. My father is already using this medicine from 7 months. Old Dr. Suggests to continue this medicine but a new doctor don't. He suggests to take only and only one medicine in morning which is combination of aspirin and atorvastatin. Medicine name is ecosprin av 75. Is this medicine enough to treat acute ischemic brain stroke and as a future stroke protector? please sir advice me as soon as possible. Thanks.

Ecospirin and atorvastatin are essential in preventing ischemic stroke. Further medication is required based on the presence of intracranial blood vessel occlusion, presence of atrial fibrillation (rhythm abnormality of heart) etc. Which can be commented only after getting results of ct angiogram/mri tof ,ecg and echo of heart. Sir I have been suffering from tinnitus and ear sensitivity since last 3 months. I have tried tinnex for one month, cognix plus tab, nezaplast nasal spray, laveta a tab for one month and now continuing with otocap capsules for one month. So far I have not seen much result though my tinnitus is reduced from how it was 1.5 months ago. I have visited 2 ent specialists and 1 neurology doctor. I have no hearing loss after doing audiometry test and according to my neurology doctor my tinnitus is not caused due to any neurological disorder and should go away on its own after a few months maybe 10-12 months so he said not to do any mri scan as of now and I should wait. According to both neurology and ent doctors my tinnitus is caused due to stress and anxiety. Please suggest me some ayurvedic medicine to cure or reduce my tinnitus and ear sensitivity to loud noise like bike horn, etc.

Dear lybrate-user there are no perfect drug for tinnitus. Tinnitus is different from ear sensitivity. If it's tinnitus you need to divert your attention away from this symptom and take the drugs for few months.

Hi. I have ringing sound in my left ear from the past one month. Also the night that my tinnitus started the left side of my nose was also blocked. I took steam for a couple of days. Then I visited an ent and was told I have tinnitus. I was also told to do a pta test and impedance test. The impedance test results showed no problems, but in pta test it was discovered that I have high frequency hearing loss in my left ear. I have never been exposed to such loud music and I use ear phones and head phones also like a normal 30 year old. I have been prescribed defcort and nootropil 800. It has almost been 25 days since I have taken these medicines and I have had very little improvement. The ringing sound is bearable when I sit in my room alone with no sound. But it irritates me when am exposed to a slightly higher pitched noise like horns or people shouting. Please suggest what should I do next as I am worried.

You have high frequency hearing loss as per the audiometry report but you did not mention the type of hearing loss, like conductive or sensory-neural, it will be better if you attach the pta report, your doctor has given good drugs, get the hba1c and fasting blood sugar done. As per history the tinnitus increases with the exposure of loud sound, it could be recruitment also which happens when there is some problem with the cochlea. Detailed investigation is necessary.
