From what you have said above, you seem to be having bronchial asthma with allergic rhinitis. I have prescribed montelukast with levocetrine tablets for so many of my patients, and they have taken for more than 1 year. I haven't come across any major side effects. Its a very safe drug. You can try by taking alternate day and see if symptoms are reduced.

In my practice, I reserve montelukast only to patients with long term problems along with asthma and generally avoid using it for allergic rhinitis or other upper respiratory symptoms.
