Dear , as you know modafinil is not a stimulant but it is a pharmaceutical drug.
You are strongly advised not to use it. It is meant for narcolepsy.
Anyways it is not easily available.

" hi there, I am a medical doctor myself and an mbbs graduate, who is preparing for neet-pg myself, so do not have much time rather two months left before exam ,so this is highly directed towards only senior psychologists (preferred) and senior psychiatrists, I have a psychiatric history of using medication since 4 years and right now I am having occasional crying spells and inability to feel like reading which I used to enjoy before although I am put on bupropion 300 mg and lamotrigine 200 mg and amisulpride 100 mg and alprazolam 0.5 mg ,sleeping meds are just to counteract modafinil which I take them occasionally to decrease fatigue and increase motivation to study, I will be thankful if someone who is well experienced can provide me with counselling to decrease to cope up with stress and crying spells and any one who can alter medication to the circumstance I am in right now can just give a suggestion, I want to a consult with a psychologist or a psychiatrist and I do not have enough time to maintain a mood journal so any coping skills within short time against crying spells can just drop in a suggestion ,i want to take a consult, thank u.

Unfortunately, therapy cannot be hastened in any manner but it is possible to bring about some functionality to begin with and gradually you can develop good coping skills and recovery over time. You need to consult a psychiatrist for the medication part and follow some therapy along with it. Anyway, it is not good to try to temporarily stave off a condition like this, and some good lifestyle changes are required to heal you. You can contact me on mobile for the therapy.

I am in depression and a lot of exam stress as I am a medical pg aspirant and a doctor, I am using few medications, bupropion 300 mg, lamotrigine 200 mg, venlafaxine 37. 5 mg, aripiprazole 5 mg, pacitane 2 mg, rabeprazole and ondansetron, these r prescribed drugs by a psychiatrist but I myself take. Few medications since 4 years to help with my studies, stimulants (legal ones) to be specific, modafinil 200 mg, selegiline 5 mg, caffeine 220 mg, and the problem now is I never smoked in my life, although I used to drink one year before, only one year I used to drink, was a social occasional drinker and never had cravings and have been alcohol free since a year, but now although I never smoked before, I feel like smoking to relieve my stress despite taking so many drugs, I am still suffering, feel like crying and lack of motivation to study unless I take stimulants, so smoking cravings without even smoking ever before is my problem, I don't know why?, I was maybe a bit influenced by looking at movies and my friends all around me who smoke whenever they r stressed out, which helps with them actually, maybe I thought smoking a bit might relieve stress and make me motivated a bit so I start studying again, can any psychiatrist can help me with this problem? And explain why I am having cravings ?(note: the bupropion I am using is for depression not for smoking cessation), please help me find a solution, I would take a consult as well if somebody who r addiction specialist who can help me with my problem and explain what I am going thru, thank you.

Its probably due to social learning from your intimate environment where you would have seen people taking about/ experiencing stress and smoking simultaneously. Other probable reason is the use of stimulants which usually provokes tolerance with time and as you are taking stimulant at a fixed dose so the brain might have demanding for some stimulant and it knows that nicotine is one of them. I believe you are on a cocktail of medications both self prescribed and self medicated, the latter ones ...more

Hello I had been going through a lot from past two years, I do not know whats wrong but I had sudden palpitations, the first thing when I wake up is in a state of panic and anxiety. I have to rush to bathroom to defecate, I consulted a doctor and he suggested me its chemical imbalance and he put me on serta 50 & nexito forte twice daily, added nortriptyline 25 mg once daily, then added modalert 200 to keep me awake during the day, its crazy I am 30, I have two kids and a job, I had not been myself since taking these medications and its not improved, I sulked in and now I have fear resting deep in me regarding losing my job, death what will happen after death, will I have a heart attack or cancer or I do not know. When I see someone casually my first thought without me thinking is about his death, how will his family respond to loss of a near one. If its depression, health anxiety, panic attacks, stress or any other mental disorder it should had been improved by now. I smoke from a long time and its not so easy to quit every time I visit I am asked to quit smoking, but will that change my condition. Is there anyone out there who could offer me a helping hand not as a doctor but as friend someone who really cares that I am the bread earner for my family. I do not want to take these medications forever and ever, live with a confused, dizzy state of mind and weight gain affecting my work life balance. I am on sertraline 50 twice a day escitalopram 20 mg & clonazepam 1 mg - twice a day nortriptyline - 25 mg once day flupentixol - once a day zolfresh 10 - once daily. Modafinil -200 mg once daily.

Hi, by the list of medications I can understand that you have tried a lot of medicines. Still your problem is not resolved. Since you are near to bangalore the best way I could suggest is visit nimhans bangalore and consult a psychiatrist and a therapist for your current problem you might need more of therapy and a different kind of antipsychotic which works for dysthymia. The medicines which you have mentioned are antidepressants and does not necessarily work in dysthymia.

I am a 41 year old woman. I have suffered from generalized anxiety for years, treated with desvenlafaxine 50 mg/day and clonazepam 1 mg/day, very well managed and without panic attacks for years. A year ago, shortly after having cavity, I started having a lot of fatigue. At the end of december 2022, the fatigue was disabling and I began to have paresthesia, a lot of pain, brain fog, and hyperacusis. I had many tests done and finally in february I was diagnosed with post viral chronic fatigue syndrome due to epstein barr or covid and was treated with modafinil 400 mg/day, magnesium 400 mg/day and vitamin d3. Two weeks ago I saw a new neurologist and told him that I was in a lot of pain. He put me on lyrica-pregabalin (i'm on 50 mg/day now but need to increase to 75 mg tomorrow) and 20 mg transdemic buprenorphine patches for a month, a treatment he often prescribes for fibromyalgia pain. He told me to take this new medication without removing any drugs that I was already taking. Everything was going well until 5 days ago I started feeling weird. I have been sleeping very badly for 2 days and I am very worried. I have a hard time falling asleep and in the end I sleep like 4 hours a day waking up a thousand times during the night. Today I looked at the graphs of the apple watch during sleep and I have dropped from an average of 13. 7rpm (breaths per minute) two weeks ago to 9.8rpm now. Tonight I hit 8rpm and 91% saturation. I have never had such low data until I started this medication. Now I read that transdermal buprenorphine can cause serious breathing problems especially if taken with benzodiazepines and lyrica. The doctor says that he sees no problem in the data but if the patches don't help my pain, I can stop them. They help me a lot with the pain, but I am afraid of the side effects. In addition to the issue of sleep, it gave me great difficulty urinating and swallowing. What do you think? Should I suspend the patches?

Hi.
I would suggest you visit your physician and check on the drug interactions. Pain killers and anti-anxiety pills can be addictive and you may develop tolerance. Additionally, you can experience deleterious side-effects. As mentioned earlier, psychotherapy can be helpful. The side effects you are experiencing can be worsened by an underlying disorder. For example, pain, sleep problems, fatigue, brain fog etc. Can signal anxiety. Emdr is known to be helpful for pain management and intense ...more

Hi Lybrate-User, let me assure you that modafinil is a drug which is to be used under strict guidance rather than taking it over the knowledge gained over internet. If you are not masturbating obviously you will have night falls. So in all neither masturbation is problem nor night falls. For more details do consult me online or consult your doctor.

If you suddenly stop using this medication, you may have withdrawal symptoms (such as shaking, sweating, chills, nausea, vomiting, confusion). To help prevent withdrawal, your doctor may lower your dose slowly. Withdrawal is more likely if you have used modafinil for a long time or in high doses.

Many males have report erectile dysfunction after consistent modafinil use. As with many prescription drugs, the sexual side effect are rarely discussed in-depth. The drug typically inhibits a man’s sex drive. Thus, one round of sex may seem marginally entertaining, but going again and again will likely sound unfit.
