This medication is not for the treatment of anxiety it can only help in palpitations by reducing heart rate. Better you discuss your problem in detail with a psychiatrist so that proper root cause can be identified and accordingly treatment can be suggested. All the best.

Believe at age above 60, even systolic blood pressure till 150 is acceptable. Once in a week bp monitoring, mild reduction in salt intake (after monitoring electrolytes balance), and then periodic review with your doctor should help. If you have been using propranolol fro some time, then it is clinical judgement, but pls don't suddenly start it at 80 mg/day, as it can cause sudden fall in blood pressure.

If your you are taking it for hypertension you have other safer options to use for long term as you" ll have to take medicine for bp always. Taking it for anxiety, tremors etc you should not have to take it for that long. Then it is not a problem. Consult a doctor before stopping medication.
