Dear Lybrate-User,
Yes, you can take mifepristone for emergency contraceptive. Dose is 10 -50 mg as single dose. But these dose pills are available in only few countries. So you can take 1st dose of 4 standard pills of mala d or mala n within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse and second dose of 4 pills again after 12 hours good luck.

Hello. Emergency contraceptive pills used within 72 hours more specifically within 24 hours have high efficacy for preventing pregnancy.
Periods are often delayed or irregular following intake of emergency contraceptive pills.
Anyways, do urine for a pregnancy test, if negative wait till 14 days beyond your expected period's date, periods will occur by then, if not then repeat pregnancy test once more.

Efficacy of emergency contraception is about 70% if taken within 72 hours of intercourse. So it will prevent pregnancy in 7/10 cases and there is no way to increase it efficacy further. Itâs better to use condoms or regular ocp pills if you want better chances of preventing pregnancy.
