Your medications need augmentation to help you recover from the severe depressive episode, sine it has been 9 months, it is worth to take a 2nd opinion from a more experienced psychiatrist. All the best.

Dear lybrate-user,
if you can make sulochana to accept all these with mirtazapine and deal with them, it is okay. Otherwise it can increase the chances of diabetes and dyslipidemia - not directly, indirectly by increasing weight and not exercising and dieting. It may not cause dependence directly but tolerance may develop in due course. Tolerance may be to side effects rather than antidepressant effect.

Combining all these medications need not be feared as these are well within therapeutic range. But, are all these medications needed that too at lower levels of therapeutic range is a question only your mother's psychiatrist can answer as each patient varies. As such nothing to worry. But you can still consider second opinion about the choice of drugs and their dosages.

Also, it would be good if you had your dinner and those medicines about 1.5 to 2 hours before your bedtime. That way, the effect of those medicines will start early and you will not be as drowsy in the morning.
After a while if still the drowsiness persists, please consult the doctor who advised you the above combination for any modification.

Hi lybrate-user,
I understand your worry here. Please schedule a follow up with your psychiatrist sooner than 6 months. Complete the dosage prescribed and revert back to them in case you notice side effects. You may also want to reach out for therapy in addition to taking medication. Depression is often best dealt with in therapy. Your therapist would help you to bring the thoughts and emotions triggering depression to your awareness and help you process them in a safe environment. The medic...more
