Hey lybrate-user,
I understand that this is a tough time for your family. While medications can be helpful, it may be very important for your father to seek emotional support and talk through his grief and issue with siblings with a therapist. Your therapist would help you to bring the thoughts and emotions triggering the depression, to your awareness and help you process them in a safe environment. So you learn to challenge the thoughts and behaviours perpetuating the symptoms in the first ...more

Dear lybrate-user,
considering your wife's age and symptom of burning sensation, I would advise her to do few blood check ups like fasting sugar, vit b12 and folate level, serum calcium level, d3 and thyroid profile.
After seeing the reports appropriate supplements have to be added. Till then let her continue all the tablets as prescribed so that she continues to cook and keep the house.

No need to get rid of it, it normalises neurotransmitters and makes him feel better. But consult your psychiatrist once in 3 months and get blood tests done, once in 6-12 months to make sure things are fine. It does not belong to addiction category medication, so do not worry. Good luck.

Dear lybrate-user. I hope you know about bipolar disorder. According to the severity of the symptoms, it could take around 6 months to 5 years for treatment. Some bipolar patients have to continue medicines throughout their life. Work with your psychiatrist for an earlier cure. Take care.
