Hi. In my opinion mirtazapine is an antidepressant. It may or may not help in IBS. I never prescribe it for IBS. Your symptoms as you told may be related to drug withdrawal. Regarding stopping the drug you should consult the doctor who advised it. For IBS I can help you with few medications and lifestyle changes. Avoid unnecessary stress and anxiety.

I would like to know more about your diagnosis and how long you are on these medications. I would also like to give you information on quetiapine which is an antipsychotic and it also has antidepressant properties. You have to take medications that are agreeable to you with minimal side effects. So it's better to minimise the number of medications taken in the same group (eg to avoid combing 2 antipsychotics or 2 antidepressants).
