Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query.
Both fasting and pp glucose levels are quite high. Ideally fbg should be < 100 mg or closer to 100 mg, pp 150 to 170 mg & hba1c% < 6.8%(not mentioned).
It is clear that current treatment is not adequate, needs to be upgraded. Additional medication/s are needed, plus there is a need to give a re-look at your diet pattern and the extent of daily exercise being done. So please consult your concerned physician or diabetologist and get the necessary imp...more

Mr. Lybrate-user, thanks for the query.
Tablet obimet contains metformin. Whereas vildagliptin is a different compound. These drugs are usaully combined together. But whether to to one or both depends on the glucose levels, hba1c%, I can not answer without all the necessary details. Thanks.

Could be side effects of the medications. For now you can take a 'l-lysine' containing syrup for boosting appetite, take a 'proton pump inhibitor' (for gas, acidity, bloating) in the morning, and do a liver function test (blood test for lft). Most importantly, talk to the doctor who treats your diabetes about this symptom.

The medicine is metformin. Its very safe and is the drug of first choice in patients with diabetes. The only care you should take is with vitamin B12 (this an go down with metformin). You can get your level checked along with other parameters of diabetes control and consult in private. I will be able to clarify further.

Most of these medicines are quite safe in the long term. However, nowadays, we don't prescribe daonil (glyburide) as often as in the earlier days. The reasons being, there are better alternatives available. Daonil, because of its long duration of action, can cause troublesome hypoglycemia that takes a long time to resolve.
