Yes metaprolol has some trigger effect for asthmatic patient .i hope during taking prescription with your doctor you told each and everything about the medical history of your father. As I knew doctor considered all these things but if you are having doubt then ask him. Without your physician's advice do't abruptly stop taking.

It depends on your blood pressure level. If it is well controlled we can taper gradually, but already u r on very low dose of antihypertensive, so dont worry.

It’s nice to hear that you want to reverse your diabetes, but to sorry to say, it does not appear to be the option in your case. The only time you might see a reversal is when an overweight patient undergoes gastric bypass which causes significant weight reduction and thereby having metabolic effect including reversal of diabetes.
You don’t belong to that category and as such My advise to you is try and get your sugar under control which is as good as having a reversal of the condition.
