Hello Sagar, Sorry that you are going through an uncomfortable situation with the anxiety disorder. I would recommend that you meet with the Doctor and inform him/her about the side effects, I am sure the Doctor will be able to assist you in either recommending a different drug or else reduce the dosage. I hope you feel better...and perhaps simultaneously Psychotherapy sessions will help you to combat anxiety disorder. Regards

Hello arun, it would have been much better if you combine medication along with cognitive behaviour therapy and exposure and response prevention. You may consult your psychiatrist for some better anti obsessional drugs such as fluvoxamine along with clomipramine. But you should also work out personal plan such as to engage yourself in some other activities instead of following your obsessional thoughts. Your obsessional drive is result of continuous habit processes learnt over a long period of time, so in order to leave your old habit you have to learn some new and creative sort of activities. Arun, you have not mentioned what sort of obsessional drive do you have ; such as washing hands and feet frequently, rechecking locks etc. Treatment modalities vary depending upon situations. I hope your query must be solved.

Dear Nitin, Persons living with schizophrenia have such difficulties some time. Apart from these tablets, you need psychosocial rehabilitation service. Find a psychiatric social worker and consult. Slowly you will start working even if you don't enjoy it. You can join a halfway home for 6-9 months to learn work habits. You can explore day care facilities nearby.

Risk of Cardiovascular Disease

Homocysteine is found to be resposible for severe hardening of arteries despite of normal cholesterol level thus increasing the risk of developing heart disease.

What is homocysteine?

It is an intermediate by- product that we produce when our bodies break down an essential amino acid called methionine. Methionine is found in large quantities in meat, eggs, milk, cheese, white flour, canned foods and highly processed foods. Our body need methionine to survive. Our body normally convert homocysteine into either cysteine or back to methionine again.

Cystenine & methionine are benign products and are not harmful in any way, but the enzymes needed to break down homocystine into cystine or back to methionine need folic acid, vitamin b12 and vitamin b6 to do their job. If these vitamins are deficient then levels of homocysteine in the blood begin to rise and so as the risk of developing heart disease.

Going vegetarian and eating lots of fruits and vegetables to fulfill the requirement of vitamin b group is easy way to keep your heart healthy.

Homocysteine levels increase in the body when the metabolism to cysteine of methionine to cysteine is impaired. This may be due to dietary deficiencies in vitamin b6, vitamin b12, and folic acid. Having elevated levels of homocysteine in the blood (hyperhomocysteinemia) is associated with atherosclerosis and blood clots. You can't get homocysteine from your diet. It has to be made from methionine, another amino acid that is found in meat, fish, and dairy products. Vitamins b6 (pyridoxine), b12 and folic acid are needed to make this reaction occur.
