With HbA1c5 6.9 diabetes seems to be well controlled. It is essential to have a very strict glucose control to have less neuropathiy symptoms. If pain and discomfort is more dosage can be increased. But it is preferable to consult your doctor who is treating. Thanks.

if the diagnosis is certain that its a disc prolapse and the pain is not unbearable, you can very well go ahead with conservative treatment. In a study it was found that 10 year result of prolapse intervertebral disc is same, whether operated or not. The only difference is operated patient get rid of the annoying radiating pain faster. Need of surgery? Ask your self for the intensity of pain (scale of 0-10) if its more than 5 you can consider getting operate...more

If diabetes is in control normally other complications are either delayed or of less severity. Since your problem is long standing one, it may not completely go away.
