Dear lybrate-user: Lithium carbonate should only be taken under close supervision of a physician. It is easy to get toxicity and thyroid and kidney tests should be done regularly as long term use of lithium use. Also, there is no scientific evidence that lithium helps with OCD. There are several safe medications that can help with OCD.

Lithium carbonate is a simple salt. It does not irritate the stomach too much if you got used to it, say after 1-2 weeks. You can even take it afternoon and night. After few months of getting used to the drug, you can take all 600 mg at night itself so that you will not forget.
During the day you tend to postpone taking the tablet and may forget also. So take it in such a way that you will not forget.
Only when you go for blood test to know the serum lithium level,...more

Hello lybrate-user. Sorry to hear about your problem. Calcium is freely available over the counter with most of the pharmacists. Osteoporosis is very common in post menopausal age group. Along with calcium a good/ balanced diet, rich in proteins and regular physical activity/ exercise is essential. For further advise please message me directly of consult a doctor for prescription.
