Haemoglobin is a protein rich in iron and is found in red blood cells. The main function of haemoglobin is to carry oxygen throughout the body. In other words, it carries oxygen from the lungs to the other parts of the body so that the cells can carry on with their basic functions. It also carries carbon dioxide back to the lungs from those cells so that this gas can be exhaled.

Haemoglobin is important for maintaining a healthy life. The normal levels of haemoglobin in the human body include:

• 14-18g/dl for adult men
• 12-16g/dl for adult women

Foods that improve haemoglobin:

  1. Consume iron-rich food products: According to the National Anaemia Action Council, lack of iron is the most common cause behind low haemoglobin levels. To improve iron content in your blood, you can take asparagus, tofu, almonds, oysters, fortified breakfast cereals, liver, red meat, shrimp, spinach, dates and lentils. However, consult your doctor for the right intake, as too much consumption of iron may be harmful to your health.
  2. Improve your vitamin C intake: Absorption of iron is improved if vitamin C is taken in adequate quantities. Lemon, tomatoes, papaya, oranges, strawberries, bell peppers, broccoli, grapefruit, etc. are some of the fruits that are rich in vitamin C. In fact, if there is a deficiency of vitamin C in our blood, haemoglobin levels go down. You may also take vitamin supplements to improve haemoglobin in your body, but consult a doctor first.
  3. Focus on food items rich in folic acid: This acid is basically vitamin B complex, which is required to make red blood cells. Food products that are rich in folic acid include rice, liver, breakfast cereals, sprouts, dried beans, wheat germ, peanuts etc. A diet comprising 200-400 milligrams of foliates is enough to supplement your Vitamin B needs.
  4. Include beetroot as a part of your diet: Rich in iron, folic acid, fibres and potassium, beetroot helps in augmenting haemoglobin levels. Drinking beetroot juice daily increases the iron content in your red blood cells.
  5. Have apples: They are rich in iron and if you have an apple daily, then your haemoglobin level will improve significantly. If possible, take a green apple with its skin. Apple juice mixed with beetroot juice has a marked effect on haemoglobin levels. You can also add some ginger or lemon juice to this mixture and have the concoction twice a day.
  6. Eat blackstrap molasses: This food is rich in iron, vitamin, folic acid etc and improves the haemoglobin level in your blood. Take 2 tablespoons of blackstrap molasses and apple cider vinegar each, mix them in a cup of water and drink this concoction once a day.

  9. Visualize: Imagine the person or the event that is upsetting you as an object in your mind and visualise it melting away. Remind yourself that the anger or frustration you are feeling is worse than the person or event itself.
  10. Clean up: Organise your desk, your room or start cleaning up space around you. This will take attention away from whatever is troubling you and give you something to do.

Hello, thanks for the query. Erectile dysfunction (ed), is one of the most common complications of diabetes. It occurs due to the damage to microvasculature supplying the penile muscles. If blood glucose levels are not in good control (fasting < 100 mg or closer to 100 mg, pp 150 to 170 mg & hba1c% < 6.8%), then ed is seen quite often. There is no mention of your blood glucose control at all. It is necessary to look at overall treatment, including above details, diet pattern, the extent of daily exercise, weight & height. The tablet mentioned (by you) may be tried. There is no proven clinical evidence. There are other drugs called pde - iv inhibitors which can be beneficial. Thanks.

You could be suffering a sensorineural hearing loss and it will not cure with high methylcobalamin and ginko biloba and you would not get back 100% hearing in your right ear. You need ent to check up and a hearing aid.

PRP (platelet rich plasma) therapy is the process used for hair loss. This includes a three-step treatment in which a patient’s blood is withdrawn, treated, and then inoculated into the scalp.

Some of the medical communities think that PRP therapy affects natural growth and it is maintained by increasing the flow of blood to the hair follicle and thus increase in the thickness of the hair shaft.

Researchers have not yet found whether it is an effective treatment or not. However, PRP therapy is in use since the 1980s and has been used for various problems including healing ligaments, injured tendons, and muscles.

PRP Therapy Process-

PRP therapy process comprises of three steps and mostly requires three treatments with the gap of 4-6 weeks. Maintenance treatment is required every 4-6 months.

The steps are:

Step 1: The blood from the arm is withdrawn and put into a machine that separates fluids of different densities by spinning rapidly, known as centrifuge.

Step 2: After the blood is in the machine (centrifuge) for 10 minutes, it will get divided into three distinct layers:

  • Platelet-poor plasma

  • Red blood cells

  • Platelet-rich plasma

Step 3: After this, the platelet-rich plasma is moved into a syringe and inoculated into the areas of the scalp that needs to be treated for hair growth.

Risks of PRP Hair Loss-

Before the therapy starts, be very sure to inform about all the medications one is going through, whether it is any kind of supplements or herbs.

When a person is on the initial stage of the consultation, many consultants will recommend against the therapy if a person is:

  • On blood thinners

  • A chain smoker

  • Having a history of any drugs or alcohol misuse

A person can also be rejected from the treatment if he/she has been diagnosed with:
