I am 43 year old male. I am a non- smoker, non-drinker and pure vegetarian. When I was 29 years old I had vertebra basilar ischemic stroke and after that I became 95% normal. I can drive bike, car etc. I can do almost all activities like before with ease but while doing some activities like running etc. I couldn't do lke before. Ok.recently, I noticed I had bp in the range of 200/140 and tested for diabetic ie. My fasting blood sugar was 111 and my pp was 121. Probably,i may be in the verge of getting diabetes. My triglycerides (269) and vldl (53) levels are high. My physician has suggested me to take lipaglyn 4 mg along with atorvastatin, aspirin,olmesartan medoxomil -20 mg& chlorthalidone tbs ,amlodipine & atenolol tabs. I have started taking it. Now,i have been doing 30 minutes of fast walking daily and of course my diet pure veg with dosa, idly without white chutney but with curd and afternoon rice in medium quantities. I am feeling tiered and unable to concentrate on any work. My weight is 92 .i ama teetotaller and non-smoke, non-tobacco user. My weakness is eating lot of sweets but ,i stopped all before 3 months. Please advise me to reduce my dependency on medicines. I want to take just one tablet in morning and 1 at night. When can I achieve this?

You are taking so many medicines. What do you want to achieve.
Your weight is 92 kg but you have not mentioned your height. If you are overweight reduce the weight. Exercise regularly. Discuss with your treating physician who will help you in reducing your medicines, because he knows your clinical profile.

I'm 37 year old male on bp meds since the age of 29, i've been on atenolol 50, nifedipine 10, amlodipine 5, currently on metoprolol succinate xl 50 and cilnidipine 10. I learnt from my personal experiences and also from web literature that beta blockers/calcium channel blockers can cause slow heart rate or bradycardia unlike angiotensin receptor blockers (arb' s) like telmisartan or thiazide diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide or chlorthalidone. Can I switch from beta blockers to arb's with docs advice to negate the effects of beta blockers. What about celiprolol, carvedilol and pindolol? My last bp readings were, 130/90, 140/80 and 130/85 monitored every 7-10 days. I have undergone my lipid profile, kidney function, liver function and thyroid tests a month ago and everything seemed normal. I'm not diabetic and it doesn't run in the family as well. I do have allergic rhinitis from so many years for which I have tried levocetirizine, montelukast and fexofenadine meds as and when required. Also take placida plus for anxiety issues. I'm just asking this out of curiosity.

Hi curiosity is fine, but if you try googling each and every medication you will find something which your mind wants to find. What is best for you your doctors know better than you as the beta blockers which you have mentioned you have just googled them and have no idea regarding their efficacy potency or mortality benefit. Atenolol is BP lowering drug and its high overdose may cause sudden and precipitous BP fall and result in coma and death

For the last many years (about 5years) I have problem of asthama with symptom of caugh in the throat , and catching cold very easily and spontaneously , but with Homeopatheic medicine it is under control . But my present problem is that , I am always feeling sleepy in the morning and have no zeal to do any thing and this problem is acute after taking launch . I have got chronic hypertension and I am taking 'Vinicor AM 50/5' . . I want to know how to overcome it , so that I will feel completely fit to work properly .

Ask your homeopathic advisor if side effect of homeopathic drug. Can change your antihypertentive drug also as atenolol in your medicine can cause same problem in some. Try to think positive. Do regular exercise.Keep your daily routine pantual.

Ask your Dr. whether you can add a beta blocker like atenolol in a dose like 50 mg once daily or make present medicine from 20 to stronger dose. Later minipress may be reduced.

Primodil-AT Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Amlodipine and atenolol which lower blood pressure effectively.where as amlodipine -5 is one drug only

I am a 61 years old male. Since the last 7-8 months I am passing through lot of stress due to disharmony with my brothers and mother as well as due to stress in the professional life. I feel very secluded. My mother who is 81 years old and paralytic and staying with us plays dirty roles and makes everbody quarrel in the family and tells al lies. Due to her presence there is an unexplained stress. We cannot also move out of our house because of her sickness. One of daughter has had a seperation from her husband and divorce with consent has been filed without any financial claim from either side. My younger daughter was recently married in a very high profile family. There was lot of stress because of arrangements of her wedding. However, the wedding took place and everything went of very well. In fact it turned out to be dream wedding. Despite that I feel that the pre-wedding stress is still causing depression. Both daughters are very well settled professionally and satisfied also despite elder daughter being seperated. We are four brothers and and all of us have misunderstanding amongst ourselves mainly because of miscommunications and lies by our mother thus creating misunderstanding in the family. I had suffered depression due to these family problems and disharmony in the family about 35 years back also when I was young. I had undergone psycatric treatment for about 6 months. I was on a drug called depsonil from 3 tabs a day which went upto 6 tablets a day and was slowly withdrawn. I feel very low and dont feel like meeting anyone or talking to anyone. I suffer from a cardiac condition hocm for which I am taking 1 tab atenolol -50 and 1 tab amlopress 2.5 od. Please suggest a remedy.

Start tab sertraline 50mg once a day. Tab etizest 0.5 mg twice a day. Its safe for your heart. Report after 7 days.

You can reduce diastolic BP by increase in medicines. Check with your Dr. about adding atenolol in smallest dose. Reducing salt is unhelpful. Reducing sugar jaggery and alcohol improves health.
