Lorazepam is not to be taken for long term, as it is a benzodiazepine which can cause serious side effects. Better consult a psychiatrist for medications which are not harmful and control anxiety well. All the best.

Lorazepam is used initially to control withdrawal symptoms of alcohol. It is tapered off within 2-3 weeks depending on the withdrawal symptoms. Nobody continues it for 2 years. Probably you are taking it by yourself. Luckily you have not increased from 2 mg. Please take MET, motivational enhancement therapy weekly for 12 weeks to withdraw yourself off lorazepam.
