Statins are quite safe. When you combine it with Fibrates (Stanlip) rarely it may cause Muscle and Liver toxicity, that you can monitor by measuring Muscle Enzymes (CPK- Total) and Liver Enzymes (DHOT/ SGPT) most of time these drugs are tolerated well without any major side effects. There is hardly any interference with Vit K If you stop these drugs your Lipids (Cholesterols and TG) will rise again, so continue these drugs while keeping monitoring the muscle and Liver Enzymes.

Secondly, in this case please do not self treat yourself, it will be best if you consult a cardiologist for detailed evaluation and also for guiding and monitoring your medical treatment. Treatment for sure will require starting with two lipid control drugs and if required addition of more. You should also follow all lifestyle meas...more

Statins are useful after a blockage, avoid taking them at this stage. Avoid lipid profile tests, they cause confusion.

Cholesterol below 300 is healthy, you should probably stop the statin. BP medicines are required if your BP is always high. Measure BP only once every month on fixed date after resting for ten minutes, start medicines if two recordings are above 160, or if all are above 140
If you want good health, improve your diet. Learn about diet from healthy ninety year olds.

this medicine is for protecting heart after a heart attack, although can be taken before heart attack if hsCRP is high and diet is modern, grains and sugar based, high glucose diet. Suggest improve diet, talk to healthy 90 year olds, learn their lifestyle. Other methods of prevention are based on faith, not on science

Avoid medications, Statins are useful in people with blockages, not in you. You should discuss your cholesterol and diet on phone with me. Best wishes.

I think you can rduce the dose of statin to 5 mg daily and get lipid profile test after 3 months. To avoid unnecessary overmedication and its side effects.

Cholesterol is one aspect of cardiac health, danger level is calculated taking into account multiple things including other risk factors like smoking, family history, high BP and sugar and so on. You will need proper assessment before advising you about medications
