If med given by your doctor is not helping you much, you need to first add herbals to control htn and then slowly withdraw allopathy in a directed way. Certain other simple measures like deep breathing patterns will also be advised to cure htn. You have to do it by choice if you want to stay away from side effects and continuity of allopathy drugs. Pl consult privately on Lybrate chat with your current reports/ history/ any other health issues.

High bp is a lifestyle and dietary disease which does not need any medicines. Can be reversed by diet and lifestyle changes only medicines will not work for any lifestyle and dietary disease. They only put a temporary fix and do not cure permanently.
There is no need to take blood pressure medicines lifelong unless you have developed the complications of high blood pressure. Read the side effects of bp medicines before taking them. Otherwise you may land up in new complications.

Hi - while medicines help, please request your psychiatrist to put you into counseling sessions so you can get more help in terms of managing the triggers (situations or people that create anxiety) etc. Remember medicines are just chemicals and have waning effect but once you make up your psyche to face the situations or people - you can with the help of meds gain strength and reduce/stop meds too. All the best!

Just switching on from one medicine to another randomly may not help. Meet your cardiologist, get a complete evaluation done including ecg echo renal doppler, thyroid profile, serum electrolytes, s. Urea, s creatinine. Let him find out the cause for your uncontrolled hypertension and then only can a decision to change medicines can be made.
