Dear Ravi,
At the age of 61 years sleep disorders need to be diagnosed before advising treatment. Melatonin will help if you have jet lag or you are working on shifts. Otherwise it is not a good sedative. Since it is a hormone, it is harmless. it may or may not help - but it will not harm you.
