It is recommended that you do not drink alcohol because it does reduce your seizure threshold thus making you more likely to have a seizure or a fit and lower the effect of the medication levetiracetam. All antiepileptics can affect the fetus when continued in pregnancy. The risk benefit ratio has to be individualised and discussed with your obstetrician and neurologist. Folvite in doses of 5 mg per day throughout pregnancy is recommended to prevent neurological problems in the baby.
