Hello lybrate-user, your son must continue the medicine for a long time. Discontinuing the treatment may cause seizure problem again.

It will depend on the type of the epilepsy whether you can discontinue them or not
also the drug levetiracetam itself has a lot of side effects.

My husband recently had a fall because of which he had a head injury required stitches. His ct scan was normal. He also had a traumatic injury at the back of his neck for which he is wearing a collar. No convulsions were noticed but the doc has prescribed levenue 500. Why?

As I am taking desval er750 from last 5 years. But from last 2 days I consult to another Neurologist, he recommended Epilive 500 mg with folio acid tablets. Does it effects my pregnancy? I am planning for baby? Changing of tablets will having any effects to my brain?

My mother getting torleva 500 mg, 2 twice a day (morning and night). But when she gets continuously she gradually steps down to weakness, ex- even she not talking, unable to hold the spoon and cup, response to the people, unable to seat on the bed etc. But when we try to avoid taking torleva 500 mg for 1 week she gets back to normal. We experienced this condition 3 times. But after 2 weeks from when we stop taking this she will facing again epilepsy.

she is having side effects of torleva, better would be to change the medicine to some other group to control epilepsy. Torleva needs to be changed.

Hi Sir, Levroxa 500 mg and Levera 500 mg are same tablets. I am epilepsy patient. I always taking twice a day levroxa 500 mg. Today I take Levera 500 mg. Sir .kuch problem ho sakta hai kiya.

Levera 500 mg.and Levroxa 500 mg are the same drug used for fits . you can take any of the brands and no problem

My mother, 80 years old had one seizure in december. Cause was diagnosed as some infection. She was given levera 250 twice a day. In the hospital she contracted multiple serious bacterial infections one after the other. Four months later she is somewhat better. Can levera dosage be reduced now as it can make the patient more prone to infections?

Levera does not make anyone prone to infections. The decision regarding withdrawl of antiepileptic depends on the reason of seizure.

Health Query

Recently I got fits problem because of I have clot on my brain on 2015 and its cured and again I got clot on my stomach on 2016. When ever I go to my hometown ooty its cold place I visit once in a year after that I get fits problem. Last Jan I visited and on Feb I got fits for past 3 years I kate acitrom 3 mg tablet and currently in appolo when I met doctor they said I should not take acitrom tablet for this many years. Currently I am taking epilive 750 in morning and frisium 10 mg and epilive 500 at night. Please tell me is it good to go with epilive or acitrom tablet on Feb doctor took all checkup and confirm I do not have any clots in my blood. I am scared.

If your blood is getting clot recurrently then it needs evaluation. Usually patients with positive thrombophilia profile need to take life long blood thinners, if it's negative then 6 months course is enough. Antiepileptics can't be stopped if you had seizures in past 6 months.
