Usually the company executive supplying the instrument will come and teach the patient how to use the device. So please contact the concerned doctor. Please talk to your doctor as it is very important to keep monitoring the sugar levels lifelong and take the appropriate medicines as suggested by the doctor. One should not stop the insulin. May be he can improve in the long run if he follows a very healthy lifestyle. Proper diet and daily exercise ( let him learn Yoga also ) can help the body to adapt more efficiently ( and thereby may help in keeping the insulin requirements to the minimum ).
